1. Name:

2. Personality Type:

My personality type is INTJ (Introversion, Intuition, Thinking and Judgment). I am independent, original and determined in my work. I possess the ability to make ideas into real action. I value much the knowledge and competence in everything I do. I work hard to realize my visions while at the same think in the long-range. I have high standards for my performance as well as that of others. I set my targets high and work towards them to achieve excellence. I have original thinking and mind with an excellent drive for my ideas. I am highly independent and capable of doing activities without any help in the field of my interest. I am highly skeptical, determined, and independent. However, i can follow a leader whom I have trust for and believe in his ability to drive towards a shared purpose. My personality is mainly dominated by the introverted intuition, which makes me focus my energy on observing the world and identifying new ideas and possibilities. I continually gather information and become insight while also faster in understanding the new concepts and knowledge.

The four letters that describe my personality are I-Introversion, N-Intuition, T-thinking, and J-Judgment. In the introversion, I focus on the inner world, and this is where I derive my energy. On the intuition, I look at the bigger picture and new possibilities. Thinking is based on my ability and preference to make decisions that are driven by logic and not a personal consideration. Judging, on the other hand, is my preference for being organized and see things go in an orderly and planned manner.

The INTJ personality has an unusual independence of the mind and the feeling of constraints of authority and possession. I combine imagination with the reliability and the belief to realize what I desire to achieve. I am insightful, and my happiness is when I come to a new understanding and making discoveries of knowledge. Regardless of what other people believe in and think of, I trust my visions and possibilities. INTJ personality firmly believes in the development of new ideas and principles. There is high ambitions, self-confident and a long-range thinker.

I prefer introversion to extraversion. I focus on the inner world rather than the external world. I get my energy from what goes inside my world rather than what goes outside. This is what direct my energy and gives me the strength and determination to achieve what I have desired to do. I prefer to work quietly and in a silent environment without experiencing any interruption, and I like to understand the world before making any experience of it. This makes me prefer to make a reflection on anything before I could act. I also prefer intuition to sensing. I am more abstract, and my focus and attention are on the broader picture instead of focusing on the minor details of an event. I prefer to make intuition into the future possibilities rather than to take focus on the realities that are immediate. I prefer to look at the bigger picture that is beyond my senses. I like to identify new possibilities which make me grow and achieve my desired objectives. At the same time, my preference for intuition has made me develop the value for imagination and inspiration.

I prefer thinking of feeling. I have 55% preference for thinking. I prefer the criteria that are objective rather than the personal goals. I prefer to make decisions based on the value of the logic rather than what is considered to be socially right. I make objective decisions that are based on the cause and effect and the possible outcome of such decisions. I tend to be tough-minded in my thinking and make the logical consequences of the decisions that I make. Before arriving at any decision, I have to consider the impact of that decision on a broader aspect. This makes me be an objective decision maker who makes decisions based on the cause and effect of the decision. On the judgment, I prefer auxiliary to introverts. I have 60% preference for judgment. I made objective judgments and took life in a structured way by planning and organizing to achieve my goals. I prefer to make a judgment to live in an orderly manner. I prefer to live a regulated life where I can take control of everything happening and make decisions that are best suited for the realization of my goals. I like to do my things and settle them to completion before moving to the next exercise. I work best when I can be able to plan my activities and have control over them. I like to deal with things once and get them finished. I make decisions quickly, and I enjoy satisfaction once I reach my target for a project.

3. Psychological Preference/Types and Leadership

On the introvert, I can describe myself as an independent. I like to work independently without experiencing any interruption from another person. i am independent because in most cases I can work on a job alone without seeking for help from another person. Introverts are independent, quiet and reserved. They work best in an environment where they are alone and believe in independence and original thinking. The introverts do not like any interruption as they work, but instead, prefer being alone in an environment where they can work independently. On the intuition, I can describe myself as being determined. I am determined and believe that I can achieve whatever goal I have set. Intuitive people are determined on achieving the bigger picture and goal rather than focusing on the finer details. They believe they can achieve more significant objectives and are driven by the determination. They believe in improving things and making them better through their efforts and determination to achieve the best.

On thinking, I can describe myself as a good decision maker. I made decisions objectively and based on the cause and effects of that decision. I focus on the logic while making decisions so that any kind of decision mi make has value. Thinking focuses on the ability to make a functional analysis of the facts at hand and consider the possible consequences before making the right decision. On judging, I can describe myself as being orderly. I like to have things in my life being orderly and organized. They approach life in a way that is planned and organized such that everything is under control. I want to have things in order and to see everything work according to plan. They like to see things done in an orderly manner and have them settled to a conclusion.

One of the significant strengths that I feel apply to my leadership development is determination. I am a determined person, and this has been the strength that has been keeping me going. Whenever I set a target, I am always determined to have it done and to the perfection. The determination is, therefore, a crucial strength that is significant in my leadership development and growth. My second strength is being a good decision maker. Good decision making is one of the critical requirements for a leader to be successful. I am good at making decisions because I take a broader view of the issues before making the final decision. I consider the cause and effects of decisions before settling on one best decision. This has always been a great strength towards my leadership growth. My third strength is being objective. I am always objective and positive about everything I and believe in achieving the best. I see much into the future and make long plan decisions that aim at helping me realize my goals. Being objective is one of the major requirements of a great leader.

One of my challenges on the leadership growth and development is being over-ambitious. I am over ambitious, and this has been leading to me failing to meet some of the targets that I set. I always believe in achieving much within a short time period, and this has been one of my significant challenges. Being over ambitious can always result in failing to meet the set standards especially when one expects to achieve much within a short period. I can, however, turn this into a strength into the future by learning to set targets that are achievable. My second leadership challenge is lack of emotional intelligence. I lack emotional control. Emotional intelligence is one of the major requirements of a successful leader. Because leaders deal with people, they have to develop emotional intelligence and understanding so that they can effectively relate with the rest of the people.

4. Working with opposite and Similar

The exact opposite of INTJ is the ESFP. The significant letters represented by ESFP are E-Extraversion, S-sensing, F-feeling, and P-perception. While INTJ prefers introversion to extraversion, ESFP prefers extraversion to introversion. My personality type prefers intuition to sense while ESFP prefers sensing to intuition. Also, my personality type prefers thinking about feeling while ESFP prefers feeling to thinking. My personality also prefers judgment to perception while ESFP prefers perception to judgment.

One of the major challenges that I will have with ESFP is on its preference for sensing rather than thinking. ESFP put much focus on the detail rather than the bigger picture. This will be a challenge to me because I focus on the bigger picture rather than the detail. While I focus on the future possibilities with broader thinking, ESFP focus on the immediate realities with no broader thinking of the future. This can be the major challenge of working with people of this personality. However, I can adapt by improving my communication behaviors and skills so that I can take a broader view of both the future possibilities and the immediate realities. Another challenge that I can have working with this person is on the way decisions are made. When making decisions, I give more weight on the logic and the cause and effects. However, ESFP makes decisions by giving weight to the social implications rather than logic.

One of the strengths of ESFP is that they are team players who are usually focused on completing projects with a lot of fun and less discord. These are people who find pleasure in discoveries and can work with other to successfully complete tasks while at the same time motivating them using fun. A person with this person can complement me by encouraging me to be a team player who always enjoys working with people while making them have fun.

The major challenge that may arise when working with a follower of the same personality is on the disagreement on the decisions made. While INTJ personality makes a decision based on the logic and cause and effect of that decision, the perception and analysis of the logic as wee as the cause and effect may vary from one person to another. Failing to trust the decision made is one of the major challenges. The first major method to overcome this challenge is to use a cooperative communication style. This is where the leader consults the ideas and opinions of others before reaching a final decision. Focusing on and appreciating the strengths of other people can also promote understanding and prevent conflict. Neutrally making interactions and conversations can also help solve the problem.

5. Consider the Feedback You Received on your Traits Discussion

One of the traits that I differ with my colleagues is on the view of life. While I want to control life and regulate everything that I do, my peers prefer to understand life the way it is rather than to control it. They prefer perception to judging while I prefer judging to perception. Another area of difference is that I make decisions based on the objective criteria and logic while they make decisions based on the personal consideration and social implications.

The major differences are on the personality preferences. The perceptions of my peers are based on ESFP personality type. They believe in understanding life as it is rather than to control it. This is different from my INTJ personality which believes in regulating and having control of life. While they prefer to make decisions that are majorly personal and social considerations, I prefer to make decisions that are thoroughly analyzed and based on the logic.

6. Reflection and Plan for Your Leadership Development

Based on the findings of my personality, I have learned that I have leadership strengths as well as weaknesses. One of my major strengths is effective decision making, being determined and being objective. These traits are essential for the development and successfulness of a leader. Because leaders make decisions on a daily basis, I believe that having good decision-making skills is essential to my leadership development. A leader also needs to be determined so that he can lead the members to achieve the goals of the organization. However, some of my weaknesses are lack of emotional intelligence and being over-ambitious. These two can hinder my ability to become an effective leader in the future because they form part of the essential traits of a successful leader.

To build on my strengths of being a good decision maker, I can set a goal that I will be reading and analyzing the various research and decisions made by other successful leaders so that I can broaden my thinking. This will help improve my thinking and expand my decision-making abilities. I will also be reading several books that can motivate me to be more objective and goal oriented so that I can keep being determined and more objective. Discussion with great leaders can also make me improve on my leadership strengths.

I will learn to control my emotions and improve on my emotional intelligence by constantly communicating with followers and understanding their feelings. When setting goals, I will be researching to understand the time requirements for tasks so that I do not set targets that are over-ambitious. Creativity is one of the traits of a leader that I would want to ensure that I demonstrate and utilize. I would want to be a creative leader who can come up with creative solutions to various problems.
