Peer review allows for researchers to improve the quality of their work and to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines. A group of nurse researchers is carrying out a phenomenological study about physical abuse during pregnancy. As a peer reviewer, this paper will discuss questions that these researchers will be asked during debriefing and the documents they should share. The researchers will be asked about other peer-reviewed publications that have been published to date that discuss the topic of physical abuse during pregnancy (Jenal et al., 2012). This will provide the researchers with a broader view towards what is expected of them for their study to be signed as a peer-reviewed one. As a means to ensure research quality, the researchers will be asked about the size of the sample and if it was sufficient to provide conclusions on physical abuse during pregnancy (Polit & Beck, 2012). Another question will be about any similarities or difference in the responses provided by the participants. This may help the nurse researchers to form a pattern concerning physical abuse during pregnancy (Zabloski, 2010).

Use of knowledge from other documents is part of research and is important. In this case, the nurse researchers should share documents that have a common objective with their research and which have an effective method of study. The documents should also have agreement and disagreement points to improve the literature review (Jenal et al., 2012). Documents shared should be able to describe the same phenomenon as the theme physical abuse during pregnancy. Such documents will help the researchers to give a detailed description of the objective. This is because the documents will have an interpretation of the physical abuse during pregnancy giving the researchers a chance to reflect on the purpose of the study (Sloan & Bowe, 2014).
