Recreational or Physical Education program in a company is one of the most significant initiatives that a business should consider supporting because it helps in sustaining the health of the employees. Primarily, a company and the board members of the business should consider the imminent risk that lies in failing to consider the welfare of their employees. The kind of welfare being referred to in this discussion is the need for physical health. With the creation of the Physical Education Program within a company, it would be easy to help employees to increase their physical activity. The maintenance of recreational or physical activity and education in the business environment usually is associated with the creation of a healthier workforce, high employee productivity (Anger et al., 2015). Employee physical healthy is one way of avoiding the development of costly and debilitating chronic diseases.

To ensure that the Physical Education program helps in reducing the health-associated expenses thereof , since my employer and the company are responsible for remitting the health insurance money for the employee (Cloostermans et al., 2015)

To demonstrate how the healthcare expenditures for the company will only be manageable if only the Recreational program is fully supported and sustained within the company in question.

What I will do

I will use evidence-based data to support my support for the program as explained herein. A close examination at different companies indicates that the Physical Education Program has remained to be the essential department that increases the productivity and employee retention within the respective businesses. Such companies include the General Motors in which the program helped the company to save up to 1.5% of the healthcare costs; the O’Neal Industries was responsible for the initiation of a Physical Activity Program within the collection of family-owned businesses called ONI LIVESMART. The outcomes of the implementation of the program were noted in the improved exercise level of the employees, which helped in the net cost savings of up to $556,100 for the company (Cloostermans et al., 2015). In this way, the program helped in producing a return on the investment estimated at $1.52 for every dollar that the business spent on healthcare.

The last example I will provide herein is the American Cast Iron Pipe Company. In this case, the company initiated a physical activity program dubbed the Wellbody Program back in the 1990s aimed at helping employees. The program was helpful in providing an on-site fitness center, health coaching sessions as well as exercise instructors. In so doing the company's health risk has reduced by 9% while the company has recorded $1.70 for every dollar invested as the return on investment on the program (Cloostermans et al., 2015). Given the vast business and health benefits that come out of investing in physical fitness and health of active employees, employees should worry about the need to increase the physical activity for their employees in their workplaces.

Who should be Involved?

The active physical workforce can only be achievable through the support given to the current Physical Activity Program by adopting various strategies, which will be integrated with the community. The business should consider initiating a ‘one size fits all’ physical activity program in the community members. The focus herein is the building of a culture of health whereby, a worker’s schedule is inclusive of a day-to-day physical exercise. To increase employee retention and reduce turnover, it is advisable for the business to support the Recreational Program while exploiting the community resources. In this way, the community in which these workers live will partner with the business in the overall messaging and encouraging healthy lifestyle (Anger et al., 2015). A community-wide program will help in educating the workforce and the global need to integrate the physical activity with the company's goals, especially of corporate social responsibility.
