The post-colonial perspectives and studies have raised concerns about the renewing of the contemporary social theories. In developing a better understanding, the critique of the post-colonial character that is being studied is considered and compared to the social sciences. Then the post-colonial epistemological alternatives are explored. The three concepts are reviewed in a bid to ensure that the post-colonial perspectives on Europe are correctly understood, and any issues that may arise are addressed. According to Costa, several aspects that are raised by the post-colonial studies are not meant to destabilize the perspectives presented by social sciences, and the elements are intended to enrich the social sciences (Costa, 2007). The post-colonial perspectives do not offer a particular idea, and they are known to present different approaches that are focused on deconstructing the essentialists. The authors who moved from developing countries into developed countries in Western Europe and North America formed a different perspective about the post-colonial period in Europe. Such authors are referred to as the intellectuals of the blacks or the migratory diaspora. Their works have been the first literal critiques of the post-colonial perspective on Europe; their works were then expanded to cover areas in of geography and other fields, because of their studies, their works have been used as references in other study works that have been conducted in Europe and other areas around the world.

Several authors presented different perspectives about the perspective on the post-colonial Europe. For instance, Edwin Said in his book Orientalism, and he gives a different perspective from the pioneers for instance, that developed by the psychiatrist Frantz Fanon. He presents the view from the view of the black people and those that were colonized. He tries to ensure that the difference between occident and orient is understood correctly. Orientalism according to Said is the way the world views some issues, currently and historically. According to the author, orientalism can be described as the rest of the world and the occidentalism can be described as the west. The two have formed different perceptions of the post-colonial Europe.

Another author that discusses the issue of post-colonial perspective on Europe is Stuart Hall, he seeks to generalize the idea of orientalism. In his arguments, he states that the polarity that exists between the rest of the world and the west is based on the constitutive basis that is described by the social sciences. In his works, he adds that the differences between the west and the rest of the world do not only exist because of the earlier works that were done in the human sciences by previous authors. The differences could be due to the different views that are held by the people and the different effects that colonialism had in the western countries and to the rest of the world. Hall gives an example about the way the perspectives have changed on Europe since the colonial period. Under the subject of sociology, it can be seen that the western societies changed. The societies in the rest of the world also changed. It was seen that the societies that were not from the western countries started to appear as if they were not complete or they were absent. The studies that are being carried out in the field of the modern sciences are meant to ensure that the way the changes were effected and how the field of sociology changed. The adoption of modern sciences has also been an issue, because of the works that have been done by contemporary authors, different schools of thoughts have been developed. People now think in different ways and also look at the issues that affected them in different ways. It is prudent to take a look at how the various authors present their views about the post-colonial perceptions on Europe, analysis of these presentations will make it easier for one to develop the proper opinions.

Gilroy also discussed the post-colonial perspective on Europe in his works. The main idea discussed in his work is the post-modernism, the work was however, rejected as a political or theoretical program. In his work its seen that the perspective of post-colonial Europe changed to focus more on the struggle against the oppression that was being experienced by the rest of the world and also social transformation. According to Costa, the article does not present a genealogy of the post-colonial studies. It discusses how the various authors presented their work on the post-colonial perspective on Europe, it also gives the several ways that the studies of social sciences have on sociology.

Through this studies it can be seen that the studies had an effect on the perspective on Europe. Several authors have presented different views on the topic. The effects of the study and works of social sciences have also been discussed on the works done by the authors. According to the analysis of the works that have been done by the authors, it can be seen that there are effects that have been impacted by the studies that have been done. The social sciences studies have affected sociology and the perspective on Europe. The work that has been done by the authors is however not conclusive, the field of sociology and social sciences have not been explored fully in relation to the perceptions created on Europe after colonialism. Direct impacts need to be discussed by the authors and conclusive findings elaborated.
