The video on “Power, Politics, and Conflict in Organization” provides an insight into various extreme scenarios where each component in the title are at play. The antecedents to the various issues are dealt with mostly in a manner as to suppress them instead of eradicating the problem presented. The power examples show how usurping authority and use of competition authoritative command can frustrate a party seeking redress for conflict. We are also presented with an example of how hierarchical conflicts are handled negatively when an upward referral is used. The video also demonstrates how conflict can be vertical and horizontal and what part team leaders and members have in solving the conflict. The last part of the film suggests how culture and current negative world trends have influenced our opinions on words that are in essence neutral and have made most of society accept only the negative connotations of words.
Power is judged by how it is used with respect to personal opinions. While the role of power is to influence, it has not been understood that its role ends there. Most organization leaders pervert it to make subordinates think that power must control the attitude and the behavior. Uhl-Bien et al (2014) highlighted that his wrong use of power is what leads to unresolved prior conflicts that remain latent only to emerge as an underlying condition or cause of a future conflict.

The video also presents to us the intricate relationship that power, politics, and conflict have. Office politics provides unofficial power struggles among office equals which then becomes a source of conflict. The use of programmed decisions is also questioned with regards to its effectiveness in conflict resolution. Programmed decisions are used especially by team leaders who are unaware that they can investigate for new alternatives that may lead to achieving the win-win situation in conflict resolution (Uhl-Bien , Schermerhorn , & Osborn, 2014). This shows that among the three, power and its correct use and understanding influences organization politics and how conflicts will be resolved.
