In this paper, I will evaluate an interview with health with a health caregiver. I will explain the interviewee's responsibility, specialist role as well as an outlook on leadership. The description of a leader it would be outlined in the paper as well as discussing the issues of proficiency, stewards of health care, authenticity, power, and advocacy. In healthcare professional, labor and delivery nursing is a department where nurses take care of pregnant clients in the period of labor, during labor emergencies and other labor-related conditions. I had the pleasure to have an interview with Susan David who is a registered nurse in the labor and delivery unit.

What is your role as a healthcare team member? 

As a registered nurse in the field of labor and delivery, Susan David works in a community hospital. In the unit where she works, she holds a primary responsibility of offering care to mothers and their young ones. Susan David outlines how she serves in the delivery unit giving concentrated support to the patients and being prepared to intercede at any instant notice. As a labor and delivery nurse, Susan David helps the physician during a routine delivery by foreseeing the necessities for materials and equipments, heartening the patient, administering medication, as well as attendance of the baby after delivery. In some instances, abrupt or precipitous labor acceleration could necessitate her as a birth nurse to deliver the little one, without the presence of a doctor (Meier, 2012). As a labor and delivery nurse, Susan David also outlined how she is responsible for educating clients and their families on the expectations during the labor and delivery period.

How do you define professionalism and how does professional responsibility influence your work? 

According to Susan David, professionalism could be recognized better after the definition of the word profession. She defines a profession as a preferred, compensated, occupation that necessitates an extended training and formal requirement. Thus professionals are persons who are anticipated to display proficient and competent conducts in accordance with their occupation. Susan David, therefore, outlines professionalism as a means of acting in a way that is anticipated by a given profession. Through the interview, Susan David summarizes how professional responsibility has influenced her work. In her profession of labor and delivery nurse, professional responsibility has helped her serve and handle patients of various ages, sizes, races, colors, and backgrounds without bias. Professionalism has also enabled her to keep and maintain records of her clients in a confidential manner and only present them to the appropriate authorities (ECareers, 2011). Professionalism has also helped her to regulate her attitude, restricting her personal challenges from interfering with her nursing practice. As a delivery nurse, Susan David is expected to depend on teamwork. Through the help of her professionalism, she can associate with the whole hospital staff in offering ultimate client care.

Do you consider leaders in your organization stewards of health care? Why or Why not? 

According to Susan David heads in health care steward health care by focusing on and promoting the wellness of every individual within the healthcare organization. The leaders in the labor and delivery unit work to ensure persons within the unit interact well with each other. The stewardship also involves ensuring that the healthcare values and mission remain appropriate. The leader's potentiality of stewardship is encouraged by accessibility to new models of care delivery and address of the ever-changing nature of the work in the labor and delivery unit. With the changing new responsibilities in the nursing profession, association with nursing research associates have helped in developing the mechanism of assessment and evaluation which additionally improve facts that encourages the crucial and special contributions of the specialized health caregiver in results of management and prevention. The nurse leader's stewards health care by operating with nurse specialists and nurse trainers in transforming the performance settings in which they perform (SAJCC, 2011). The result makes the performance in the healthcare setting more optimistic, healthy and connecting.

Is it necessary to you that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and influence when working with colleagues? Why or why not? 

According to Susan David, it is essential for heads to practice specialized advocacy and authenticity together with authority and control in the practicing environment. She outlines that leaders should take a role of more significant control in their institute, authenticity and the capability to motivate trust amongst associates and supporters as it is essential for achievement. As heads take on the duty of higher persuade within their institutions, authenticity and the capability to encourage faith amongst associates for the wellbeing of service delivery (Women in Cable Telecommunications, 2018). The power of the leaders is presumed to be grounded on authenticity, having greater clarity of core standards and strengths, leaders increase their effect, encouraging themselves and followers to contribute their greatest capabilities.

What is your role as a healthcare team member? 

I had an opportunity to interview John Kevin who is a nurse supervisor. John outlined his role as a nurse supervisor involving the responsibility of managing personnel, overseeing patient wellbeing and ensuring obedience to established procedures and policies. He is in charge of assigning personnel and supervising their activities, as well as assisting in the recruitment and training of new staff. As a nurse supervisor, he also operates as an interface between his personnel, their clients, as well as the client families. He also acts as interface amongst his personnel and hospital doctors. John is also responsible for various administrative roles as part of the supervisory tasks.

How do you define professionalism and how does professional responsibility influence your work? 

According to John professionalism means offering care of the greatest technical quality as well as communicating clearly, being self-reflective, respectful, advocacy and consistently modeling responsibility. He outlined that professionalism in nursing has always meant placing patients first, care for the patients as well as educating new specialists. As nurse supervisor professionalism has assisted john in creating a support plan that help followers successfully address conduct and performance that undermine their custom of safety (ECareers, 2011). John has also created a fair and measured approach that is used by staff to report and respond to occasional obstacles that prevent development and are harmful to the caregiving environment. Professionalism has also made him committed to the pursuit of the institute's goal, vision, and mission. This he does by embracing all team associates accountable for molding professional conducts, consistently implementing the staff's rules of conduct justifiably, in spite of rank as well as taking well-timed deed intended to address conducts and performances that destabilize the culture of safety.

Do you consider yourself a steward of health care? Why or Why not? 

John outlined himself as a person who has met the domains of stewardship in the healthcare sector, especially in his nursing supervision. As a nurse leader he has essentially engaged in staff development by succession planning, that aim to build and foster a generation of caregiver leaders. He has also utilized advisers and personal instructors to help staff in refining proficiency and enhancing capabilities. With the rapid changing prospects of nursing John as a nurse, supervisor has outlined on embracing objectives of health care enhancement.

Is it important to you that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and influence when working with colleagues? Why or why not? 

John believes that as a head, professionalism advocacy as well as authenticity, power together with influence should be exercised when operating with associates. As a leader, the role he takes would greatly influence the institution's authenticity and capability to motivate trust between staff and subordinates which is essential in health delivery (Women in Cable Telecommunications, 2018). Leaders should understand their general personality and seek to associate with each group by recognizing their attributes and strengths. Leaders should influence the sharing of basic concepts of each group and encourage the blending of efforts in patient care and solving institutional matters. Through advocating professionalism, leaders should guide personnel to acknowledge the traits diversity as well as respect to others views and outlooks.

Compare and contrast 

In both the professional and leader's interview, the aspect of professional identity is outlined as an essential principle that encourages professionalism through showing and role modeling specialist values, conducts, qualities and attitudes. Professional identity is the bases for specialist functioning and various roles in the healthcare sector. Individuals who have attained professional identity are extra flexible when faced with responsibility changes. Stewardship has in both interviews being summarized as the potential enhancement of policy results as the main positive potentiality (Yazdannik, Yekta, & Soltani, 2012). However, in the supervision interview stewardship has a prospect to revive the sense of social purpose amongst employees and helping to re-establish a sense of trust and legality by possibly channeling fresh and emerging structures of integrated care.
