The Board of Nursing in Illinois is generally vital in the state in terms of making sure that only competent nurses get the opportunity to practice in the state. It provides licenses to qualified nurses only which includes those who have completed their academic qualifications. It is also responsible for renewing the licenses of ethical nurses in the state just like other boards in other states. However, it has different nursing regulations when compared to another state such as Texas. More specifically, the requirements to be a registered nurse in the two states are different. For example, the requirement in Texas is that the individual needs to have graduated from an RN program approved vocational nurse, or an appropriate licensed practical nurse (Texas Board of Nursing, 2019) . Also, they are expected to get the appropriate US exam and have worked in nursing in the previous four years before the application. On the other hand, nurses in Illinois can be registered if they had taken exams from other places through the acceptance of exam even in cases where they are not licensed on other jurisdictions (Nursing Licensure, 2019) .

The requirement to be registered in the two states also applies for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) as they are expected to be educated and experienced. The requirement is vital in helping to provide acute, primary, and health care during the lifespan through the process of diagnosis, treatment, and assessment of injuries and illnesses. The other example in which APRNs adhere to the regulations includes having experience (Blair, 2015) . It is evident from the fact that the path to becoming an APRN starts with being an RN. It needs the necessary certification and work experience in a specialty.
