First Response

Nurse-managed health Clinics (NMHC) provides better patient-centered care as compared to traditional clinics. Some of the benefits of NMHC to patients include centered care, regular health attendance, stable health, and increased health satisfaction. The facilities are cost-effective, prevent frequent hospitalization, and highly reduce complicated health cases, especially among underserved populations (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw and O’Grady, 2016). The author adds that NMHC has proved to offer wide-ranging personalized healthcare services that are holistic and integrates community resources towards handling complicated local cases. However, despite the positives of NMHC, the author points out various drawbacks of NMHC that include lack of government funding, lack of cooperation from insurance companies. Policymakers also influence the model negatively, thus derailing efforts reimbursement in addition to policymakers who disrupt operations of the centers.

Second Response

In the second response, the author is categorical that NMHC plays a significant role in offering a cost-effective and comprehensive model of healthcare. The author points out that NMHC provides holistic quality care to underserving populations, thus bridging the big divide of health care service providers to diverse communities (Institute of Medicine, 2010). The services provided are not only comprehensive but also cost-effective, thus bridging the gap for numerous patients. However, the author points out that despite the positives, NMHC are undermined due to their affiliation with academic health centers, a feat that undervalues nurse practitioners' roles. At the same time, funding remains the biggest threat to providing healthcare services to patients in these facilities. The author further notes that relevant stakeholders such as APRN and ACA need to increase their commitment and focus on NMHC to enable them to provide comprehensive health care services.
