Discussion 5:1

The discussion outlines how significant community nursing is to public health awareness and promotions. It reaches a significant number if not all of the community members directly and instantly. Health fairs are one way through which community nursing can be made effective. They address the unmet need for services such as cancer screening, BMI index, blood pressure, STD screening, and cholesterol levels that target prevention and education among communities. Health fairs ensure health services reach underserved communities to help reduce disparities in health services due to socioeconomic and literacy barriers (Murray, Liang, Barnack-Tavlaris, & Navarro, 2014). Although a good initiative, community nursing faces some challenges with major ones listed in the post as budget limits, low community socioeconomic status, non-compliance as the biggest challenge. To solve this, nurses rely on policymakers financially and to make policies that favor community nursing. Community nursing health fairs must also ensure participants get the information and opportunity to receive follow-up care (Murray, Liang, Barnack-Tavlaris, & Navarro, 2014).

Discussion 5:2

Systems have interrelated parts in boundaries, which interact, resulting in the exchange of information and energy, and so does in health patterns. The post outlines that nurses can act independently to assess, analyze, diagnose, and implement. Secondly, nurses can collaborate with community members and work interdependently, and can also rely on other teams' plans of care. Meaning, a community health care system can be personal, interpersonal, and social (Williams, 2017). Fundamental forces, including economic factors and ethics which influence screening, are outlined in the post as well as the benefits and limitations of screening. The discussion further provides insight on possible outcomes of screening, including false results and early detections and their effects, which make it interactive. The post then provides insight on several policies, including the Affordable Care Act, which has improved quality, transparency, and safety, and organizations that have facilitated community healthcare. Through community nursing, they influence the behaviors of community members to promote healthy living in as much as individuals get to decide whether to follow the education as the post clarifies. The discussion concludes with a critical viewpoint that people should be made health literate and then be involved in decision making to achieve the best outcomes of community nursing.
