The Residential Plaza community is an assisted living facility owned by Assistance to the Elderly, Inc. It has its origin from a group of philanthropists who joined forces in 1987 to raise $12 million to build the largest Assisted Living Facility at the time in Florida. The residential plaza is located in 57 is located in Miami. From their website, I learnt that the facility provides an affordable home with assisted living services that allow older adults to live in a safe, caring and supportive environment while maintaining their purpose, dignity, and independence.

Statistical Population 

The facility has 350 licensed bed, of which 120 are private while 230 are a supplement. According to the facilities website, the occupancy rate stands at 35 percent. The facility will hold beds during a temporary absence.

Culture 

The facility is bilingual in that it caters for both Spanish, Portuguese and English speaking persons. The culture in the facility can be defined from the activities partaken by its community which includes, gardening, arts and craft, dancing, cooking classes, games and cards, and social events and outings.

Epidemiology 

The specialty services offered are in Limited Mental Health and Limited Nursing Services. Cooled areas are within the facility and include the common areas, hallways, and the living room. The cooled area covers an area of 6000 square footage and is used by approximately 280 people. The services offered a focus on memory care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

Environmental Issues Related to the Community Site 

In combatting any environmental issues that may arise the community website states that they do housekeeping, laundry, and routine maintenance. They also house an emergency generator and fire protection as well as an emergency alert system. They also have a well-maintained terrace and courtyard.
