The exclusionary rule needs to be abolished, and the police should be arrested for an illegal search. The proposal will allow for the reduction in misconduct, which has been a limiting effect resulting from the exclusionary rule ( Parry et al., 2013) . The abolishment and subsequent punishment will facilitate a police department's development determined to obtain convictions distinct from arrests. It will also enable the police officers to be aware of the effects of their misconduct, the suspect's rights, and the consequences of bridging the law ( Parry et al., 203) . As a result, it will foster criminal justice personnel who do not benefit from their misconduct related to obtaining information by violating the constitution. Punishment of police officers serves the interests of justice by holding them accountable for their wrongdoings. When a police officer is decertified or suspended for an extended period from service due to bridging the law, it allows for maintaining order and controlling crime associated with police officers (Parry et al., 2013). It also promotes the principle of the law on the mandate of the police to safeguard it. Holding the police officers accountable for their mistakes also promotes justice by improving how the public views the criminal justice system. The individual police officers are evaluated based on direct and indirect performance and public opinion polls. On the direct performance method, the officers are assessed based on the crime rates they handled, fines and number of arrests they made, the period taken to respond to services, and clearance rates. Indirect evaluation methods are surveys, direct observation of their behaviors, independent testing, and situational studies (Parry et al., 2013). Another criterion that can be utilized is through public opinion polls. Notably, police officers' performance can be evaluated by general questions on how people are satisfied with a particular police officer's role. The criteria used to evaluate agency performance include:

Comparative performance measurement

Agencies are measured by their performance grade based on how they deliver their services to the people. Compliments and complaints are the major indicators of how various agencies deliver their duties. The proportions of cases and those charged are used in measuring the performance of policing agencies. The comparative conjunctions between the judicial and actions of the police are important indicators of how different agencies perform their duties.
