On the direct performance method, the officers are assessed based on the crime rates they handled, fines and number of arrests they made, the period taken to respond to services, and clearance rates. Indirect evaluation methods are surveys, direct observation of their behaviors, independent testing, and situational studies (Parry et al., 2013).
