Realism is an ideology that describes the international political practices of various nations. It makes a broad assumption that the primary motivation of a nation-state is to help achieve national interest. This practice may alternatively be disguised as moral concerns. In this regard, it is clear that the states are the primary actors in international politics where individuals and international organizations have little influence. These nations have little regard for the interests of others as they act rationally to fulfill their own desires. The practice of realism in the political activities of a country demonstrates its desire to attain maximum power and guarantee self-preservation (Schweller, 2018). The current state of the global politics is a clear indicator of continued practice of political realism as nations across the world seek to establish power above the rest.

The following research will incorporate a critical analysis of research journals that focus ideally on the events of the global political sphere. In this case, the study will use empirical sources of data that focus on the recent incidences of a push and pull between member states. The qualitative method of analysis is an effective approach to understanding the nature of interaction between the members of the global society. The realism approach is evident by the states actions of actively competing for power (Schweller, 2018). Using qualitative data, the research will be able to discern the activities that demonstrate realism ideology and those that do not.

The continued globalization has become an issue of concern in the modern society. Countries across the world are capable of interacting nearly on a daily basis through trade and political cooperation. However, there has been a sudden resurgence of nationalism and competition for power is a cause for concern as it alienates the weaker countries that cannot participate in the same. Through the rising and declining powers in the global political sphere may bring about negative impacts to the independent states that are caught in between the conflict.
