Question 1

Disabled veterans face a host of physical and emotional challenges in their places of work. The most common ones include loss of hearing, burns, spinal cord injuries, amputated limbs, and stress disorders. Stress disorders include depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and anxiety, among others (Corbin & Duvall, 2015). Most of these challenges are highly dilapidating and can cause severe life-threatening problems to the already compromised individual.

Question 2

In a bid to address these challenges, veterans with disabilities can rely on two fundamental laws. The first one is the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA covers people with a host of challenges such as deafness, blindness, and mobility impairments (Corbin & Duvall, 2015). It prohibits discrimination of people and ensures that employees are accorded favorable working conditions that match their disability needs. The second law that can protect this group of people is the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA) (Corbin & Duvall, 2015). The law requires that employers pay significant attention to the veterans returning to employment. The employers must ensure that the veterans are qualified to perform the required job. USERRA also ensures that veterans are protected against discrimination based on their affiliation with the military.

Question 3

The aging workforce can receive protection based on The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) (Corbin & Duvall, 2015). This group of individuals cannot receive any protection from ADA. Blind and deaf workers can receive protection under the ADA. New mothers receive protection under a law known as the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA). Furthermore, they also receive protection under the ADA. The law allows new mothers to request for a modified work schedule or reduced work altogether. The workplace environment can also be modified to fit into their diverse needs.
