People use water in various activities, such as swimming. These recreational activities are carried out in recreational waters, such as lakes and coastal areas. Water can be polluted by various agents such as human discharge, overspills, and animals. These pollutants subject the water to varying microorganisms, which can lead to diseases for human beings. This paper discusses polluted swimming beaches, their effects, and ways to control the pollution. Swimming on beaches that have bacteria can lead to symptoms of diseases, such as colic and diarrhea. These bacteria may also be present as a result of excrement infections in the water (Fewtrell & Kay, 2015). Diarrhea is an example of a disease that has risen public concern due to its spread through swimming beaches (Bonadoma & Rosa, 2019). It is an example of a water illness caused by bacteria in the water. People sick with diarrhea spread to others when they get in recreational water (CDC, 2020). When people swim and leave tiny poop s (like 1.4gms) gets into the water, they spread hence contaminating the water with germs. If other people happen to swallow the water while swimming, they automatically become infected. The possible measures that can be taken to control these diseases are advising sick people to stay out of the water to avoid spreading the disease. Advise people to shower before going to swim, avoid peeing in the water to prevent leaving germs in the water, and advise the swimmers not to swallow to avoid swallowing infections. The solution to this problem is advising the infected to seek medical attention to be treated and observe proper hygiene to avoid infections. There should be continuous disinfection and filtration of water in the swimming pools to avoid spreading germs. According to the CDC (2020), 444 crypto breakouts, and 7, 465 cases were reported in forty states in America between 2009 and 2017. The number of cases increased by approximately 13% every year. This was led by the swallowing of the contaminated water in the pools, playgrounds, and other areas. The CDC recommended sick people avoid swimming and wash their hands after every contact. The challenge of implementing a solution to this problem is unresponsiveness, where people fail to follow instructions and inadequate capital to educate the public about the dangers and prevention of crypto transmission. In conclusion, recreational water is water that is used for recreational purposes. The water can be exposed to pollutants, which can lead to infections in humans. Swimming as an example of recreational activity can be polluted hence the spread of diseases like diarrhea. Diarrhea is caused by tiny poop, which spread germs on water hence spreading to the people when they swallow the water. Proper measures should be taken to avoid the prevent spread of diseases in the swimming beaches and other playground areas. The swimming areas should regularly be disinfected to kill germs present in the water.
