Verse 9 of Luke 20 brings out the aspect of a critical question posed by Jesus to his disciple Peter and to which he replied that He was Messiah. This question is critical today just as it was in the past when Jesus asked it. It is therefore of importance to evaluate on what kind of response I would personally give if the same were directed to me. People from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life have varying perceptions and understanding on who Jesus is to them, some say he is a leader, others a king, others a prophet. Even during his time some called him a prophet, others called him son of Joseph and Mary.
From a personal view Jesus is a hero to me. I have encountered many people in my life and some have acted like heroes only to prove to be cowards in the long run.

I draw a lot of inspiration from the teachings of Jesus. In all of them one element has always stood out; his courage and boldness regardless of consequences. There is not a single instance recorded where he exhibited cowardice or fear. One instance that stands out however is the time of Jesus' crucifixion. Despite the persecution, humiliation, mockery and spite, he never at any point relented on his noble course to save the human race. I have personally encountered many challenges in life which have tested my faith and courage. In some of these instances my faith has wavered due to some element of cowardice on my part. However in most of the instances I have emulated the example of Jesus by embracing boldness and courage.
Being a hero takes immense courage and desire to stand for what one believes in. In any given situation though, people tend to honor heroes who have undergone suffering and pain during the heroic acts. The Romans made it a custom that whoever would die by way of crucifixion would suffer a horrible death. Prior to his death Jesus is seen to be violently flogged. As a result the wiping led to great blood loss and intense pain. Nonetheless he did not turn back on his mission. He was also forced to carry a heavy cross which he was later nailed to.
From the experiences it is undeniable that in his heroic act of the death on the cross he underwent immeasurable pain for the sole purpose of saving mankind from an eternal death. He would have opted out but still went on with the crucifixion. His resurrection after three days in the tomb is however the epitome of heroism. He is the only person known to have conquered death by resurrecting three days after his crucifixion. Such an act is unmatched and puts him above any hero that has lived before and after his time.
From my perception Jesus to me is therefore a hero; a heroic person that conquered all the obstacles put on his path without any fear or favour and ultimately conquering death through his resurrection. Even though I am weak and normally follow into temptation, I always try to be like him.
