Deforestation causes global warming, leading to climate change, soil erosion, flooding, and an increase in greenhouse gases. Also, it destroys the natural habitats of animals like birds, monkeys, and other wild animals (Sustainable Development, 2020). The trees that will be introduced which previously had trees will have the same global effect as the old forest. Planting new trees will facilitate the reduction of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane, which are the major causes of climate change (Matter of Trust, 2020). Reforestation helps in the protection of essential species of animals. It helps in the rebuilding of habitats, which had been degraded, thus endangering the lives of valuable animals. Science has proved that trees play a significant role in the conservation of the environment. When trees are planted in the right types of soil across the globe, the developing forests can absorb around two hundred and five gigatons of carbon dioxide for many years. People have been generating carbon dioxide since the industrial revolution. Tom Crowther, a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, stipulates that reforestation is a global solution to global warming or climate change (Fischetti, 2019). Scientists have analyzed over 80,000 satellites depicting photo measurements of tree cover across the world and matched them with different climate conditions and soils. The experiment showed a map of the number of trees the earth can support naturally, and this includes areas where trees are growing and where they could grow in the future. The study also found that billions of hectares could grow forests, but trees had been cut or had not been planted on them. The utilization of such lands will promote the reduction of carbon emissions since the trees that will be planted on them can absorb high amounts of carbon dioxide. Even when the forest dies, the new trees that will grow will still play the same role as the old trees, minimizing carbon dioxide emissions. The team of scientists also developed a planning tool that can be linked to the map, and this tool allows people or organizations to zoom in on locations where forests can be started. There will be an examination of the effects of deforestation in the major forests, and this can be obtained from the locals living in the forest or people living close to the forest (Schatz, 2020). Afterward, a series of plots that have been deforested or have been illegally encroached on by people should be set aside for planting new trees. The planting of trees will also include replanting the species of trees that were there before and ensuring that many trees are planted in the required area. Also, there will be the inclusion of strict rules to curb illegal logging. The examination of the detrimental effects of deforestation will help determine the amount of Carbon dioxide that has accumulated in one area. The results from deforestation can include high levels of erosion, which affects the fertility of certain areas, making it difficult for plants to grow properly (Chechina & Hamann, 2015). The planting of trees will be carried out by volunteers, people from indigenous communities living in the forest, and environmentalists. Also, the study needs the intervention of law enforcers to ensure that they have dealt with any illegal loggers. There should be enforcement of the laws to ensure that loggers face severe punishment (Schatz, 2020). The planting of trees will be useful since most animals will start getting back to their habitats. The act of volunteerism will create awareness among many people, enabling them to take care of their environment.
