I have chosen to pursue the career of a registered nurse as in the United States of America. To be a registered nurse across the various states within the U.S., one needs to have attained an associate's degree as the highest level of education required for the career. I have a plan to achieve the associate's degree to become a registered nurse working within the state of Virginia. I have a passion for nursing. If I cannot achieve the associate's degree for whatever reason, I have planned to pursue film production since I am a huge fan of acting. Therefore, I will not have abandoned any of my favorite careers.
The entry-level earnings for the state of Virginia regarding a registered nurse are $ 45,600 per year. The earnings at the same level for a registered nurse in northern Virginia and Alexandria/ Arlington differ from that of the state. The registered nurses in the region receive an entry-level salary of $ 57,040 per year. The average entry-level salary for the state and the region is therefore calculated as follows.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Entry-level salary for state= $ 45600
Entry-level salary for northern Virginia = $ 57040
Average = (45600 + 57040)/2
= $ 51320
The entry-level earnings for the northern Virginia region are enough to support me and lead a decent life. According to research performed in the United States of America, the average amount of money in a year that a single person requires to leave a comfortable life as salary ranges between $ 22000 and $ 30000 (Martin, 2018). A family of three in the state of Virginia requires not less than $ 60000 as the minimum income per year to live comfortably. Therefore, the entry-level salary in the northern region of Virginia would not be sufficient to support a family of three that is two adults and one child. To support the family of three, one would need to become an experienced registered nurse and have a raise in the salary. Alternatively, the other adult in the family would seek a job to ensure that the family lives comfortably.
The employment projections in the state of Virginia stood at 64787 in the year 2016. The projections are expected to experience a 14.4% percent rise to 74128 in the year 2026. That represents the highest percentage of positive change. The statistics of the northern Virginia region differ from the state's employment projections. The projections of northern Virginia in 2016 stood at 13889. Come 2026, the employment projections in northern Virginia are expected to have undergone a 19.1% rise to 16545. That represents the highest percentage of positive change in employment projections.
Research indicates that the United States of America is at the verge of shortage in registered nurses (Grant, 2016). Therefore, the current registered nurses are in demand, which increases the possibility of earning higher entry-level salaries. The employment of the registered nurses is, however, estimated to increase by 15% by 2026 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019). Therefore, the choice of a career in registered nursing is a good one for the current economic conditions. The information provided increases my determination towards becoming a registered nurse due to the demand and opportunities in the career.
