In October 2020, the commander John Scott Hannon veteran’s mental health care improvement act, was signed by President Donald Trump. The veteran mental health bill was introduced in 2019 by both senator Jerry Moran and Senator Joh Tester. The bipartisan legislation is a broad and belligerent approach to link more veterans to the quality mental health care they deserve (Enos 2020). The legislation includes new policies to increase the number of mental health professionals for veteran mental health facilities, remote veterans and encourage inventive treatment options. The bill's main objective is to increase outreach and improve veterans' health services by increasing the number of mental facilities and the number of mental health professionals in the vet centers. The act is referred to as the bipartisan legislation since the act was supported by both parties.

The act was to ensure the enhancement of the shift of individuals to amenities from the VA department. To achieve these acts, stressed that there should be a deliberate strategy on extending the health care attention for troupers adapting new life from service in the armed forces. Transitioning from one form to another is a hectic stage where many people experience challenges (Enos 2020). The same case applies to veterans who are about to change their everyday life to new life. The transition, in most cases, is accompanied by stress and anxiety, which can lead to abuse of substances or can lead to suicide. Therefore the act was preparing a way for veterans to transform and adapt to their new environment quickly.

The act also required the veterans who die after one year from retiring to be reviewed. This was a way to investigate the cause of the death and determine how effective the measures are. Most of the veteran's deaths are from suicide due to mental health illness, and there is a need to keep records and understand what is causing the deaths and how the problem can be solved.

The other objective of the act is to prevent suicide among veterans. The act required the veterans and their families to receive financial assistance to cater for suicide prevention services. The act was also concerned with the abuse of substances and how it can be stopped (Cook 2021). A general report was to be created by the VA department to detect the risk of suicide among veterans (Barnett et al., 2020). The act was also ensuring that the federal government is funding the initiative to ensure continuous service to the veterans ( Novotney 2020). The VA department was also required to study all the causes of mortality to predict the staffing levels of mental health services.

Programs were to be set to determine the relationship between suicide risk factors and living at high attitude. They were also determined to improve the social economic nature of the veterans and their families ( Novotney 2020). Guidelines for the treatment of veterans with severe mental illness were to be developed by the Department of Defense of clinical Practice guidelines.

The initiative is under the Statutory Certification regulatory level. This is because it is beyond the regulatory registration level where there is the maintenance of the individual within an occupation.

In conclusion, the Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act initiative was developed to address the gap in quality related to care coordination for individuals with chronic illnesses. The main objective of the initiative was to reduce the suicide rate among the veterans and to reduce the use of drugs and alcohol. The initiative has been effective as there is an increase in the number of healthcare providers offering quality services to veterans. The initiative has also reduced the barriers to health care to veterans by adding more healthcare facilities and providing quality education to mental health care providers. The initiative has proven to adopt and enforce the appropriate, consistent quality standards concerning health care. As a way of ensuring the initiative is working for the purpose it was set to, some regulations such as the commander John Scott Hannon veteran’s mental health care improvement act were enacted. The main aim of the regulation was to ensure the enhancement of the shift of individuals to amenities from the VA department. The initiative does align with other initiatives in another gap since all are aiming to provide quality healthcare. It supports other initiatives since when the health institutions are increased, and the health professionals are educated, they will serve people under the other health gaps. Currently, there is no conflict of interest.
