Understanding how an employee’s role contributes to the overall success of an organisation is a key longer-term instigator and morale builder. “Role importance” should regularly be reinforced by the manager, with every employee on your team. In my profession as a customer service personnel, the organisation motivates the people in our job category by acknowledging each person’s contribution and encourage us to continue to maintain our service standards. At the time the organisation acknowledges our efforts by awarding us incentives for the positive feedback that the client provides after receiving our services.
Workplace Stress
By leading by example, the managers reduce stress in the workplace. As a leader it is crucial to keep a lid on your own emotions: do not permit negativity, stress or anger piss off your employees. Practice what you say and take time off to de-stress yourself, enjoy quality time with your family or arrange to socialise with friends. Similarly, forming walking conferences rather than meetings in the boardroom, taking consistent breaks and reserving a holiday will not only put you in a healthier frame of mind, it will also demonstrate your employees that it’s okay to take some time out. As a customer service personnel, I meet many people every day. As a result, I end up exhausted, with time my productivity drops. After taking time of the work I usually revamp my productivity.
