When examining law enforcement agencies, the most important characteristic to officers was the feeling that the job was important and yielded a feeling of accomplishment. Job satisfaction differs for each employee, but studies seem to confirm that essential elements include a wide range of ambient factors such as positive relationship with supervisors. As a supervisor, what could you do to strengthen your positive relationship with your subordinates?

In law enforcement, job satisfaction is a key issue since it enhances cohesion and professionalism within the police force following the right policy and procedures as well as offering the appropriate services to the general public. However, this job satisfaction has been known to develop from a feeling of accomplishment as well as other ambient factors such as employee-supervisor relations. This paper thus briefly describes how the employee-supervisor relationship can be improved ( Broach & Dollar, 2012) .

Making proper communication should be the usual norm in any organization. Communication forms the basic foundation in any healthy relationship. The supervisor should be willing to honestly communicate the expectations of their subordinates and giving out appropriate information of the organization as required by all stakeholders. Subordinates must also develop a culture of communicating with their supervisors any difficulties in their work ( Broach & Dollar, 2012) .

Accountability. The supervisor and the subordinates must be willing to claim responsibility and accountability and most importantly, the subjects should feel that their supervisor is accountable. Supervisors must meet deadlines accept all constructive feedback, as well as honoring all promises on time ( Andiappan & Treviño, 2010).

Focusing on Teamwork. The supervisor should be able to organize the subordinates to work together even in small groups so as to enhance effective teamwork to meet objectives and targets. The spirit of teamwork enhances openness and no burden is laid just on oneself.

Showing Loyalty so as to improve workplace dynamics. The supervisor should show loyalty to their subordinates through offering promotions or even sending them on a training course so as to feel much appreciated. Loyalty keeps the office productive and moving forward even in a challenging economy ( Andiappan & Treviño, 2010).

In conclusion, the workplace can be a chaotic place or a place of peace depending on the supervisor-subordinate relationship. The Supervisor should always see far and apply a mechanism that is keeping the team focused and united to the course.
