What steps could you take to develop more resilience in your practice setting?
Resilience is well known to healthcare workers because they encounter it in their daily routines. Nurses are responsible for the patient’s welfare. As much as healthcare providers access their patients’ wellness and quality of life, there is a need for them to be resilient as well. Resilience enables nurses to manage tough times and that they experience in their daily routines. They should be able to change disasters into their personal growth. Resilience can get achieved if they choose to work as a team and support each other in difficult times (American Nurses Association, 2010) . It essential for nurses to incorporate resilience in their practice by finding people who can take them through mentorship programs. Nurses must be in a position to take care of themselves as they provide healthcare services as a way to incorporate resilience in their practice. Physical exercise and doing something exciting while away from duty is a great way to shift energy flow.
How might you communicate a change in practice to patients and nursing peers?
Change is paramount for any organization that strives to achieve its goals. In nursing practice, effective communication is a requirement as it informs fellow workers and patients about a change in practice. Communication can be when a plan developed that outlines the kind of change, who needs to know it come and how they will get informed (Golden, 2006) . It essential to communicate who the change will affect and how. Communication can be achieved by enlightening people about the reasons for change, what is expected to happen through the change process, and how patients and workers will be involved in the change process. This enables everyone to get accurate information. The method of communicating change in the practice should allow for members of the staff to give their views. Leaders should take into account the opinions, suggestions, questions, and clarifications provided by staff members and patients about change.
