An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) refers to practitioner who has attained a master’s degree in nursing. APRN, therefore, refers to a wide range of specialized nursing practitioner. In Florida, the APRN is comprised of clinical nurse specialist, certified midwives, nurse practitioners, and certified registered nurse anaesthetist (Unruh et al., 2018) . APRNs have the liberty to work in different health care setting including long-term care facilities, ambulatory clinics, and hospitals. The specialization of the APRN makes it hard to define the role of APRN in general. Therefore, in this essay, we deduce the various specific roles of APRN in Florida.
Nurse practitioners are independent and organized APRNs who work closely with patients. The licensing and certification of the NPs are done by both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). NP can be seeing the same family for a very long time to provide care and to follow up of the wellbeing of the patients long after they are discharged from care facilities (Unruh et al., 2018) . The NPs have the liberty to specialize further so that they can be able to work with specialized groups in the community such as women, adults and neonates.

The state of Florida has taken a keen focus on care provision sector. In Florida, the authorities have developed less restrictive regulation of APRNs (Toney-Butler & Martin, 2018). The reason for this is the fact that the authorities understand the importance of this group of nurses. Unlike in other states where the roles of the APRN are more restrictive meaning that specialized nurses cannot take part in any other activities except those that they have mastered, Florida allow APRNs to take parts in other nursing operation with fewer restrictions (Unruh et al., 2018).
Typical roles of the APRN in Florida
The different groups of nurses who comprise of the APRN has specific roles. Only the NP have general roles. Below, the discussion will be the responsibilities of the four main practitioners. According to Kumar and Williams (2018), nurse midwives are nurses who focus on the health of women. The American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) is involved with certification of the CNM. In hospitals, the midwives have the responsibilities to deliver babies, provide pre and post natal advice, care and support women before and after delivery, care for the babies and the families of these women. The key roles of midwives in care setting include obstetrics, routine gynaecological care and education and counselling.
Nurse midwives are found in antenatal clinics where they provide services to pregnant women. They collect information about pregnancy and help women with advice on how to get through the pregnancy period. Midwives are involved in obstetrics. During delivery, midwives are involved in the entire process of helping women have a safe delivery. They are engaged in checking the health conditions of the newborn as teaching women how to handle the babies. In addition, they offer postnatal advice to women before they are discharged and on follow-up clinics ( Kumar & Williams, 2018) . Midwives are mostly found in the delivery section of the hospital where their services are required every minute. The nurses working as midwives must have the ability to deal with emotionally charged situations to help them carry out their responsibilities every day.
Role of the CRNA
The certification of the CRNA group of nurses is done by from the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Nurse anaesthetists play an important role in ensuring the success of various medical procedures. Therefore, nurse anaesthetists work in collaboration with podiatrists, anesthesiologists, dentists, and surgeons and in the process of anaesthesia. Their responsibilities, therefore, include helping with patient stabilization services, pain management, and overseeing the recovery of the patient. Nurse anaesthetists also help with preparing the patients for surgical procedures. In the surgical room, the nurses assist the surgeons to prepare the tools that will be used in the process. All these services are applicable throughout the surgery and in diagnostic, obstetrical and therapeutical procedures. This group of APRN are highly trained because of the increased sensitivity of their work.
Clinical nurse specialists’ roles
This group of nurses include specialists in specific in different areas such as public health policy, cardiovascular health and gerontology. Just like the NP group certification and licensing of this group of nurses is done by the (ANCC) The main responsibility include providing direct care to patients and consultation services, clinical nurses are also involved in education, research and facility administration. There is a wide range of responsibilities that clinical officers can perform. These nurses treat a variety of patients by performing operations such as mental health examinations, wellness assessments and gynaecological examinations. Clinical nurse specialists provide consultation to patients and families and ensuring that they have full information about a medical condition and the alternatives to the treatment. these nurses have a diverse knowledge of different parts and therefore in most cases, they are given supervisory roles over other nurses and may be involved in the administration of the clinic facility.
The differences between the NP and APRN
In Florida, the NPs can prescribe medications to the patients. However, other specialized APRNs do not have the authority to provide medication n prescriptions. NPs in Florida are cleared by the law to provide prescription medication. Unlike in other states, none of the APRNs can prescribe medication on Florida (Toney-Butler & Martin, 2018) . NPs can work with a wide range of groups in the society like in neonatal, family health, pediatric primary and acute care, women health care and psychiatric-mental care and so forth. For the APRNS, especially the midwives and the nurse aesthetics have specific roles and responsibilities. Clinical nurses’ specialist share certain roles with the nurse practitioners. Both NP and APRN practitioners must have a master’s degree. However, the NPs must recertify with AANP after every 5 years while the educational requirements for APRNs are dependent on the rectification requirement of the specific practice.
Conclusion
APRN group of nursing professions is special because those in this group must have attained a master’s degree in nursing courses. APRN is majorly comprised of four set of practitioners that include the CRNA, CNM, CNS and NP. Because of the diversification in the APRN group, each group has different roles and responsibilities. For example, the CNM focus on the health of women which include obstetrics, routine gynaecological care and education and counselling. CRNAs are involved in helping inpatient stabilization services, pain management, and overseeing the recovery of the patient. The CNS group of nurses are engaged in mental health examinations, wellness assessments and gynaecological examinations. The NP group are is the general group in APRN meaning that they are involved in offering general nursing services to a wide range of the population in the society.
