The White House Press Secretary is one of the key staff members of a president’s administration. The Press Secretary’s work is to address the media and other relevant gatherings on behalf of the president. For President Trump’s administration, Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the White House Press Secretary. Thus, the statements she makes or the responses she gives are synonymous with what president Trump would say if he were there. One of the most common political behaviors involves manipulating the press through concocting lies or fabricating stories. Also, the same is achieved when non-existent scandals are fabricated. In a recent incident, Sarah Huckabee was exposed for lying publicly.
Particularly, Sarah had stated that President Trump knew nothing about a payment made to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels (Rubin, 2018). This was in regards to a scandal that Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., had been caught up in. However, with time, verifiable facts regarding the incident emerged. When this happened, Sarah Huckabee was left exposed for lying to the press on behalf of the White House. However, her lies did not develop out of the blues as it is something that President Trump recognized. However, when the whole truth came out, Sarah Huckabee remained stern that the president did not make any misleading statements on his son’s behalf.

‘ Playing politics’ is a term that is often used in the political arena. It infers to the political tendencies and behavior that most politicians have. This phenomenon of ‘playing politics’ cuts across many leadership and governance structures. For instance, it begins in political parties, then campaigns, elections, the media, and then takes over the overall government structure. It is characterized by lies, scandals, plots, and political machinations (Johnston, 2018). However, in all of these, the media is the most critical field where politics are played. This is due to the fact that everything said to the press stays on record. Therefore, retracting sentiments that have already been made to the media without an explanation becomes extremely difficult; something that Sarah Huckabee has experienced repeatedly.
