The tempest is played which was written by William Shakespeare in the early 1960’s. In Tempest Shakespeare tries to unveil the storms of life that people face on a daily basis which they have control over. There is a magical storm appear out of the thin which is caused by Prospero, the Duke of Milan. Prospero had held long revenge against his enemies who had driven him out of his rightful place as the duke. Notably, Shakespeare uses the storm to represent consequences of the self-interest and treachery deeds of Antonio. He meant to show that when the natural occurrence of things is interfered with, the repercussions are in such a manner that goes beyond the human realms into the supernatural realms. However, in the end, the storm produces a rather peaceful outcome, and order is restored ("Shakespeare's The Tempest", 2018).

One of the most distinguishing aspects of the play is how the stage is set. There is an easy flow of movement, and the characters can exit the stage without confusion. Subsequently, the stage lighting is deemed to enable the views to feel both the natural and the supernatural realms. Also, the lighting is in a manner that represents how stormy weather looks. The play is certainly is a sound-heavy play as the different sounds purported to belong to different creatures being heard. Musical accompaniments are also not absent. As this is a neoclassical play, the characters are dressed in antique clothes to give a sense of time. In addition to the above, the actors use masque while performing, so that the viewers can identify with the period in which the play was written.

The introduction of magic in the play help to undertone the naturally scaring events happening on the island and bring a tone which seeps to the entire play is one of admiration, amazement, and wonder. Furthermore, the actions of the drunkards add lightness to the play as well as the hilarious jokes by the would-be killers of the King. In the play, characters are forgiven for their past mistakes and given second chances. Speeches were given by Miranda in the end, and Prospero all help to create a mood of happiness.

The parts of the play that was easy to understand were those which involved Ariel, a spirit interacting with humanity. This is because; in these parts, there are no limitations on one’s mind. Also, the curiosity of how divinity will interact with humanity makes individuals concentrate. As such, this would enable one to be able to concentrate better. Some of the details which stood out during these performances were how Prospero was able to rescue Ariel when he was imprisoned by Sycorax the witch. Also, when Caliban, the last inhabitant of Sycorax, plots to murder Prospero, Ariel listens in carefully and reports to Prospero. This loyalty stands out as it helps viewers not to stay in suspense as they wait to know the fate of Prospero ("Shakespeare's The Tempest", 2018).

Undoubtedly, this performance helps to bring to the attention the role of theater in the contemporary society. To begin with, it shows the importance of theatre as a tool for understanding culture as well as society.
