Similarities in the processes of cellular respiration and photosynthesis

There are plenty of similarities in cellular respiration and photosynthesis. ATP is the key molecule found in the ach processes. They both have the two processes that couple into one main process; during the respiratory process, the cell utilizes the Glycolysis and Citric Acid Cycle to energize electrons through and oxidative phosphorylation process provided ATP and reducing power to Calvin Cycle. Both processes utilized the cycles with the start of the cycle begins when molecules leaves the cycle (Citric acid cycle). They both have the similar mitochondria of cell respiration and chloroplast of photosynthesis in that, the protons do pump H+ across membrane of low concentration through an endergonic process that requires energy (BioChemWeb, 2010). Protons diffuse back across membrane through ATP synthase driving synthesis of ATP. Both process have the formation of the G-3-P during glycolysis (cell respiration) and in Calvin cycle (photosynthesis). Both processes do utilize the cycles that has the materials being regenerated after the molecules leaves the cycles (Citric acid cycle and Calvin cycle) (Rachna, 2018).

Differences in the two processes

The first differences between cell respirations and photosynthesis comes in with goals. In cell respiration cell respiration is ATP while in photosynthesis is the required product for the creation of glucose. The second is glucose and oxygen are major reactants in cell respiration while in photosynthesis it is the water and photosynthesis (Anonymous, 2014). The third is in cell respiration the products include carbon dioxide and water while in photosynthesis it is oxygen and glucose. The fourth oxygen is presented as an exhaust for the photosynthesis and carbon dioxide in the cell respiration. The fifth is water is the source of electrons and end up in glucose while in cell respiration the electrons are extracted from glucose and the end up in water (BioChemWeb, 2010).
