Strategic management would be relevant to the specializations that Paulette, Mariana, Michael, and Candice are undertaking. It will be important in the sense that each of them is taking a different career path marred by different experiences and expectations. A comparison of the expectations relating to each of them can be useful in helping to draw similarities and differences in the usefulness of Strategic Management and Human Resource.

Paulette, in her case, presents the fact that Human Resource Management is necessary as it leads to enhanced effectiveness and efficiency within an organization. Mariana shares the same sentiments. However, in her case, she argues from the perspective that HR is crucial in the planning phase of the operations of any given organization. However, their views differ in the sense that Paulette holds the opinion that HR is critical in enhancing the wellbeing and the functionality of the workforce. According to her, the employees are the most valuable assets in an organization. On the other hand, Mariana is of the opinion that a very thin line separates the staff from the management. The relevance, of the management, as she puts it, cannot be overlooked. It is the administrative entity of an organization that influence operations thus their relevance.

Michael and Candice take a different approach when it comes to analyzing the relevance of HR. According to Michael, HR operations are somewhat a reflection of the mission and goals of an organization. As a result, the policies that are developed to define the culture are adamant to the success of the organization. Candice shares the same opinions as she states that goals determine how activities and operations will be customized. Thus, their claims imply that the goals of an organization need to be aligned to the operations of HR. The difference in their opinions is that Candice presents the need for a descriptive and prescriptive approach while Michael advocates for descriptive approach alone.

On a different note, the career path that Michael is seeking to undertake is quite different from that which Paulette and Mariana are undertaking. Mariana and Paulette are seeking to pursue careers in Human Resource Management. Candice, on her side, is also seeking to pursue a career in project management. Thus, a comparison of the perspective that Candice and Michael hold should be analyzed. Michael’s perspective is such that strategic management should be aware of the operational strategy of any given organization. As a result, he presents the perspective that the mission, vision, and objects are highly influenced by strategic management. On the other hand, strategic management according to Candice is helpful when it comes to helping an organization prioritize its operations and its goals. Therefore, they both hold similar opinions in that they showcase how critical strategic management is when it comes to meeting set objectives.

A difference in opinion comes up as Michael manages to relate strategic management to SWOT analysis. According to him, SWOT analysis is enabled through goal setting, researching and verifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. On the other hand, Candice holds the opinion that SWOT analysis is achieved not through risk assessment but risk avoidance. Management of any given organization can come up with effective ways to outline their objectives and also strategize on mitigating around the potential risks for functionality and effective performance.

All the same, the four manage to bring out the relevance of strategic management as well as the importance of human resource. Candice and Michael bring out the dynamics that are important in strategic management while Mariana and Paulette showcase the relevance of HR. With their different approaches, they showcase that it is necessary for effective and efficient operations in an organization.
