I would like to apply the information I learned this semester by being an effective part of the solution. From the reading, I have learned that I can make a difference by acknowledging that a problem exists, paying attention, and doing something. Change can only occur if I volunteer, speak out, sign petitions, or show up at gatherings (Johnson, 2005) . I would like to apply such lessons by daring to make individuals feel uncomfortable, actively promoting change, and paying attention to how various forms of oppression interact with each other. I would also like to share the information I have learned this semester by educating others on the importance of collective action, working with other people, and modeling alternative paths as the initial steps towards promoting change.
I can bring what I have learned in SOC 100 outside the classroom in my social interactions with other individuals. I can influence others to support what I am doing while trying to promote social change. I can use the knowledge from the class to convince others to adopt my view and support me. I can use my knowledge of race and ethnicity to form alliances with individuals from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. In this scenario, I can dare to make them feel uncomfortable and perform individual acts of solidarity and resistance.

I want to be more proactive in advocating for social change moving forward. In this case, I want to make noise and be seen by joining social movements dedicated to altering systems that produce inequalities and injustices. In this respect, I want to actively promote change in how current systems are organized around privilege. Joining social movements will allow me to mobilize other individuals to join the movement (Agustín, 2015). I believe there is a need to redefine our society's values and norms, given the ongoing systemic racism, stereotyping, and racial injustices. I want to redefine the priorities surrounding the environment by encouraging people to adopt conservation measures.
