Assignment One
One of the ways that the social media made the Florida school shooting project management easier is global communication. Social media has a global effect on communication which makes the process of information services much easier. Communication is very crucial and social media helped the Florida school shooting in attaining smooth flow of information between the participants. Another help the social media offered was collaboration. Social media helped the organizers to work together on their project and also helped in minimizing the coordination expenses (Remidez, 2012). On the other hand, social media made the Florida school shooting project more difficult because there was no way to control the information to make sure it reached the right people. Social media resulted in public panic. It triggered new issues which were related to the school's security systems which led to more complications (Ngai, 2015).
The three pros of social media in event planning include; awareness, real-time marketing and developing new business leads. Under awareness, social media helps more participants to become aware of the event since it provides a much wider base than targeted audience. Social media helps in real-time marketing where advanced planning of some parts is tied-in to an event for ready execution. Social media also helps in developing new business leads due to increased exposure (Nash, 2018). For example, the event that was hosted by HP for “Women in Business” used social media for the participants to communicate back and forth, ask any queries and sharing their thoughts (Campbell, 2018).

On the other hand, the three cons of social media in event planning include; time intensive, exposure and additional expenses. Social media needs a lot of time in monitoring and management which requires so much attention. Social media also leads to exposure which can attract risks such as hacking, leakage of information as well as negative feedback. Additionally, social media may require additional expenses to manage it (Lee, 2015). For example, Pepsi’s misguided promotional effort under the theme of peace and understanding which backfired when the black community boycotted against its products claiming that the event was undermining the Black Lives Matter Movement (DeMers, 2017).
Assignment Two
The advantage of using autocratic style is that new employees are utilized effectively while the disadvantage is that managers might seem harsh towards the ideas of the employees.
The advantage of paternalistic is that employees are satisfied with their needs and opinions are valued while the disadvantage is that decisions are only made by the manager without employees’ input.
The advantage of Laissez-faire is that freedom of employees to do whatever they want while the disadvantage is that there is no regular employee performance feedback.
The management style that the event director should use in this situation is the paternalistic style.
The management style should not change because even if the event director has been there for 3 years, there are new employees and volunteers that are continuously being recruited.
To make sure that the recruited volunteers remain professional throughout the entire camp, the event director should have a set of rule and regulation that must be strictly adhered to accompanied with the consequences of not following them.
