Discussion

At Apple Inc., each worker has the right to safe and ethical working conditions; regardless of wages or position of work every employee has a right to a healthy working environment. Irrespective of the local laws that influence unethical hiring or excessive working hours towards workers, Apple has made a rigid stand towards eradicating this mode of employee treatment. Apple Company has worked to reduce excessive working hours, in the year 2011 the company established a program that regularly checks some hours that workers are working in the business. It is important to note that in Apple a worker can only work for 60 hours, furthermore overtime work should be voluntary. Statistics show that in the year 2013 the levels of working hours were ranging below 50 hours in the weekly interval.

In most nations’ example China, middle school graduates have a chance to indulge in Vocational schools. During this period, a student worker can interact with the suppliers, and expected to gain skills and knowledge from the business world through a complete internship with the vendors. A Recent study shows that 3 out of 10 students are mismatched in regards to their internship of choice, and these students end up engaging in internships which do not improve their skills and are out of their interest circle. Apple attempts to protect student workers from exploitation, in the year 2013 Apple partnered with Stanford University to establish a program designed to raise the quality of education and internship that the suppliers will offer to student workers. Apple attempts to ensure that the placement matches the student employees’ goals, and student working hours must not conflict with school.

Apple has gone a step further to state that the company has a no-tolerance policy against underage workers. Any supplier towards the company found to have employed underage workers is immediately put on probation. The company is has established a program that attempts to match the dates of birth to the number of working years; this acts as the checker for any underage workers in the various posts of its suppliers. Corporate Social Responsibility demands that any worker has the right to good health, safe working environment. At Apple different programs and policies have been established, to ensure that workers work under healthy and safe facilities and working conditions. As per the audits of 2014, Apple Company launched the Apple Environment, Health and Safety Academy (EHS). The formal 18-month program focused on developing the skills of workers, which would not only educate and empower workers but also improve their health and safety in working areas.

The company provides education that enables workers to be able to acquire new skills and knowledge that improve both their working ability and their way of life. Apple has developed programs that protect their workers from any sense of emergency. The company has employed checklists that workers may use in cases of emergency. The checklists usually contain instructions, equipment, permits, first aid kits and signs for exit routes. Those workers may use to respond in cases of emergency; the company has also involved emergency orientations to new workers. This allows the new workers at the firm to gain knowledge of how to deal with cases of emergency while working for the company.

Environment responsibility is an important role that each company has to abide by. Due to the significance of negative impacts that have resulted due to different companies, Apple has worked to establish the minimum implications of the company towards the environment. The audit for the year 2014 describes Apple to have conducted 62 focused environmental assessments, to evaluate and reduce the environmental impact the company has. Through Education, the company also focuses on establishing better environment, as well as improving the immediate conditions to the company (S, 2007, p. 56) .

Conclusion

It is important to note Corporate Social Responsibility is an important factor in the business world. Not only does it improves the relationship between consumers and suppliers in the economy, but also enhances the coexistence between the corporate world and the social environment. Better working conditions are also associated with the efficient operation and high levels of production. Conclusively a company’s adherence to social responsibility has been identified to improve consumer patterns in the business world.
