Generally, social workers have broad ethical principles that govern their operations. The moral principles depend on the primary core values of social workers which include dignity, service integrity, and competence among others. I believe, under this situation, some ethical concerns are apparent. The social workers should always act in a trustworthy manner. They should reconsider the core values of being responsible, honest and maintain all the necessary ethical standards. Professional expertise is also essential for social workers.

The social welfare promotion concern arises from this situation. The social workers are mandated to promoting the general welfare of the society; both at local and global levels (“Code 6.01 Social Welfare”). According to the correct findings, the services they offer are not sufficient, meaning they did not promote the welfare of the society to the maximum. To correct this issue, they should involve public participation so that they get feedback and suggestions about the services they offer. They should then analyze the problems and come up with policies to correct mistakes and serve as per the requirements of the clients.

Another concern is that once the social workers got the findings that their task was ineffective, they decide not to let anyone know about the study. They should have provided an appropriate explanation to the participants and let them know about the findings of the research fully (“Code 5.02, Evaluation and Research”). Upon understanding that their services are not effective, they should discuss the results with the colleagues and come up with solutions on how they can make the service more useful. They should not hide the research findings from the colleagues and the public.

The professional integrity concern also arises in this situation. The social workers are supposed to uphold a high standard of practice. More so, the values of ethics, mission, profession, and knowledge are vital for social workers (“Code 5.01 Integrity of the Profession”). The social workers decided they must not have conducted a proper study. More so, they decided to hide the findings. By not holding a proper research and hiding the results, a profession concern arises. Social workers should always be professional. They should act professionally in everything they do. Therefore, they should conduct best and professional studies and reveal every finding so that proper remedy can be done.

Also, the fact that the services are not effective brings about the question of competence in the profession of the social workers. The social workers are supposed to remain competent and professional, such that their services are always effective to the society (“Code 4.01 Competence”). Therefore, they should either retrain the staff. Also, they should be keen on their service to ensure they meet client’s expectations. Also, they need to request the client to rate their services and get the exact problematic areas for improvement.
