Families are a very important function in the community; they teach us how to function in this difficult world. The family provides a close fraternity or a group of people who can freely share their feelings and emotions, happiness and sorrow, desire and needs and help each to beat obstacles in life and excel in the one’s endeavor.

The element of communication is essential to forming a strong family. Strong families practice communication lines amongst each other, where all the members feel respected and heard. Until everyone feels heard, it is difficult to build strong relationships (Ron 2010). Furthermore, strong families allow all its members, regardless of their age, to talk about their feelings and thoughts. This means that the feelings and ideas of each member are respected. When individuals feel respected and heard, they get a better feel of themselves, they become more open to problem-solving, and are likely to allow other members to express themselves accordingly (Hammond, & Cheney 2010). Strong group bonds in the family can also be formed by spending quality family time together. In the current world, families may find it difficult to spare time and unite together. However, in order to succeed, every relationship needs attention, including families. Family rituals such as dinner, holidays and vacations are very important to creating strong bonds by allowing members to get together and share experiences (Ron 2010). Nevertheless, Strong families are able to work through conflicts by focusing on the problem as opposed to tearing down each other. Finally, strong families offer support to its members whether financially, social or emotional (Hammond & Cheney 2010). A strong bond is created among family members when they know that they can always count on each other for support and not feel lonely.

On the other hand, just like families, sects and utopian communities are a group of people who share similar ideas and beliefs (Sosis 2000). The members communicate effectively and are allowed to air their views and ideas and be heard. In addition, the groups display a high level of togetherness to one another and always stand for each other (Sosis 2000). Therefore, these groups are formed on bonds relative to those of a family.

Conclusion

It suffices to conclude that, a strong family provides the support needed to its members to make it through the toughest spots in life. These qualities are also essential to the development of sects, cults and utopian communities which are formed under the same setup.
