Every individual has unique characteristics, a pattern of thinking, feeling, and behavior that differentiates them from another person. These differentiating traits are referred to as a person's personality. To identify an individual's personality, one can take a personality test; this test can help us identify and categorize different characteristics or traits that might we were unfamiliar with before. The test can be applied for job placement and better ways to better socialize with other people. The first part of this essay will explain the four letters of chosen personality type. Also, the essay will comprise my personal opinion concerning the self-test. The paper will also explain how the MBTI assessment relates to Jung's theory of personality development, pointing out the differences and similarities between the two. Lastly, the paper will feature how the information will help me better understand myself and others.

Part 1 Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Jung’s Theory 

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) describes people’s likings for socializing with others, collecting information, making decisions, and organizing their lives. The MBTI assessment test categorizes a person’s characteristics into four categories: introversion over extraversion, degree of intuition over sensing, degree of feeling over thinking, degree of judging over perceiving. My personality result portrays that I demonstrate a moderate degree of introversion over extroversion. The test implies that I may exhibit an introvert's pure characteristics whereby I might feel to be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among the people I know. This can be friends, family members, or soulmates. On the contrary, people can view me as an extrovert because I might be seen as outgoing and genuinely interested in people.

The result also documents that I demonstrate a moderate preference of intuition over sensing; this suggests that I may tend to demonstrate idealistic behavior; furthermore, I might have the most transparent insight that can assist in motivating other people around me .also; the test portrays a slight preference of feeling over thinking .this insinuates that I might tend to suddenly withdraw into myself shutting out other people even those that I might be intimate with. The sudden withdrawal acts as a coping mechanism. It acts as an escape option to build and replenish lost resources and a filter to prevent an emotional overflow as people offload their emotions due to my extroversion traits (Myers, 2016). The test also portrays a moderate preference for judging over perceiving; thus, I might demonstrate characteristics of wanting things to be orderly and established. This results in me portraying a tendency to act as well as dream. These combinations can often result in me taking a disproportionate amount of responsibility in the various activities that I am drawn towards.

Personal opinions can include a varying degree of similarity towards a defining characteristic or different in a specific manner. Through self-observation, I found out that many of the details revealed by the self-personality traits reflected a more significant amount of most of my characteristics. Furthermore, another trait brought out by the test appeared to be true when I reflected on the various comments made to me by the people that surround me. The only differentiating factor that I felt was false in the tests were the various degrees stated by the test as some of the degrees stated felt to be either low or positively stated.

Carl Jung developed Jung's theory of psychological types. He studied people’s personalities and formulated a way to cluster the seemingly random variations in behavior exhibited by people into an orderly and consistent pattern that could categorize people as introverts or extroverts. Carl explains in his theory that introverts and extroverts could view the world through intuition, sensation, and feeling; furthermore, Jung explained that at a time, one of the four principles of psychological functions always becomes dominant over the other function. The formulation of the Myers-Briggs type indicator was to make Jung’s theory understandable and helpful to people.

The MBTI instrument is founded on Carl’s ideas about perception and judgment and the varying attitudes in which they are used in various groups of individuals (About the MBTI Assessment, 2020) . The theory and the instrument both hold differences and similarities to each other. Some of the more evident similarities include the two hold that an individual can only portray one preference to be greater than the other at a given time. A person can be more introversion during a special moment and change to be more extroversion in a different time. Furthermore, the two-state that one characteristic affects how a person commits to a particular situation and how they conclude what they have perceived. The theory and instrument differ where the theory categorizes people first into two types, while the instrument clusters people’s behaviors into four types.

Information is power; thus, the information obtained from the test and study of Jung’s theory can better understand me and others. This information can prove useful in explaining many of my personal decision made in the past and other decisions that I will make in the future. Besides, this information can prove useful in understanding how I can better understand other people's actions, thus ensure that the bonds we form with each other remain healthy and authentic. This information can also prove useful in formulating the various career paths that I may be suited to fit in.

Part 2 Adlerian Approach 

Alfred Adler was a renowned philosopher and psychiatrist. He emphasized the importance of understanding people within their social context. Adler is widely known for explaining concepts like individual psychology, superiority complex, inferiority complex, and lifestyle. Alfred believed that every individual possesses the desire and aim: of feeling superior and belonging. Much of his work touches on understanding mental disorders, healing techniques, and encouragement and inspiration on desirable personal development.

Part two of this paper will be referring to a case of a holistic child. The paper will explain the child's situation using Adler’s concept of birth order; also, the essay will develop and explain goals for the child. Also, the paper will feature two Adlerian techniques to be used with the child. The paper will conclude with an explanation of at least two Adlerian concepts that may be impacting the situation.

The birth order is the sequence in which a child is born. The first child of a familiar is mostly the oldest of the other siblings .birth order can change when another sibling is introduced who is older than them. For example, only for another older sibling to take up their birth order when a child grows up. Alder suggested even if children of the same family are raised in the same environment, it is essential to note that the birth order and the number of siblings of a family play a key role in shaping a child’s potential and nature of reacting to a particular outcome.

Adler’s concept can explain the male child situation using two parameters of age and number of siblings. In the first scenario, the adopted children are of different ages to the seven-year old child, where one of the adopted children is older than the child. By being older than the boy, the ten-year-old child automatically assumes being the first child of the family, thus displacing the seven-year-old child of his position. Regarding the number of siblings, the seven-year-old child was initially used to being the only child. Still, with the introduction of two other siblings, the number of children of the family increases to three, thus displacing the usual feel of being alone inside the boy. The above-stated factors evoke the feeling of hostility portrayed by the seven-year-old child, ultimately confirming Adler's belief that birth order and the number of siblings affects a child's behavior.

Therapy sessions can include several goals that can be set up to satisfy a raised problem. Adlerian therapy sessions have the primary goal of helping people feel comfortable and confident with their surroundings. Also, these sessions aim to assist people in recognizing and identifying their misconceptions and various other assumptions that they may hold about others and themselves. In our situation, the primary goals used in an Adlerian therapy session can be applied in helping the seven-year-old boy. The first goal would be to help the child feel confident and confident by educating him of his position within his family and the vital role in welcoming his new sibling to their new home. On the other hand, by identifying and communicating the child flow, the child can scrape away any initial emotions of feeling out of place.

Various techniques can be employed during a therapy session. These techniques are used to understand the client better; the techniques can also quickly convey the therapist’s solutions to the client’s problems (GLEESON, 2020) .In our situation, the first technique that can be used would be engagement. This can be through a conversation with the boy. The importance of engagement is to create a safe environment that will allow the boy to divulge his views and how he feels about his family's changes.

Furthermore, engagement establishes a relationship between the boy, thus bringing trust. Another technique would be acting as if technique. I would advise the boy to act as if he has reached the level where he intends to be after one time. This technique provides an indirect insight as my position would be to direct the boy to a solution but not provide the boy with my solutions .furthermore, the technique allows for the boy to reorient his beliefs allowing for healing.

Several concepts can be employed to explain a particular case in therapy adequately. In an Adlerian case, there are four concepts, although in our case, we are going to look at only two cases that explain the boy's behaviors. The first concept is Individual psychology, where the boy feels the need to be seen as superior among his siblings; also, the boy portrays a show of power through his hostility and disobedience. This allows the boy to hide his genuine emotions of feeling inferior due to the evident age difference (Legg, 2019) . On the other hand, another concept is superiority complex; this is where the boy behaves as somehow superior to his siblings. This is evident in the extravagant behavior the boy portrays of having temper tantrums and hitting his siblings.

In conclusion, the Adlerian approach can help us better understand how birth order factors can affect a person's character despite the person belonging to a joint family as another. The Adlerian approach has also provided us with the necessary information for detecting the cause of certain behaviors, diagnosing the behaviors, and later on, the approach has provided us with the appropriate techniques for solving some of the people's psychological problems.
