The naturalistic fallacy, universalizability, and the expression of attitudes play an essential role in the description of the virtue of sportsmanship. Sports have a significant impact on the cultural life in America and in other countries in the world based on the ability to attract and unite more people to participate in a particular sporting activity. There are extraordinary claims made concerning the role of sportsmanship in the society based on the development of the character of individuals engaging in sporting activities. The view of sportsmanship depends solely on the ability to distinguish sports as a playful activity and as competition. The distinction focuses on the impact of sports in enhancing diversity, amusement, and recreation.

The virtue of sportsmanship maintains that a player and an athlete can be distinguished based on their attitude, their preparation, and purpose. In this case, each game is considered a unity considering the development of totality within the game's finality. The analysis of the virtue of sportsmanship helps in presenting the attitudinal complexity between the player and the athlete based on their moral aspects governing them. The aspect of fairness entails conduct that flows from our attitudes towards engaging in appropriate sports. This means that sportsmanship helps in shaping individual actions and character. The virtue plays an essential role in assisting individuals in a given society to conduct themselves in appropriate manners that help in defining an athlete as an individual with positive attitudes towards interacting with other members of the society. Sportsmanship is, therefore, a mean between extremes that help in teaching moral values on how individuals should engage and cooperate in playful activities effectively.

Determining the winning and athletic superiority depends on the ability to define a team or player that is better in any given competitive sporting contest. The primary purpose of engaging in a sporting contest entails the provision of a comparison between players and teams based in their performances. However, there are situations whereby a sporting contest fails to determine the appropriate athletic superiority considering that the purpose of engaging in a sporting activity may include entertaining spectators. It is essential to define ways in which athletics contests fail in their primary role of making a proper comparison in the aspect of determining superiority through the discussion of the purpose of competitive sports. The first aspect of consideration in discussing competitive sports and athletic superiority entails refereeing errors. The determination of a winner in a competitive sport may experience a significant issue relating to biasness in the referring process where competition favors the home teams.

The second significant aspect entails cheating, which is necessary to consider during the determination of a winner and an athletic superior during a competition. Cheating in a competitive sporting activity involves the violation of rules to obtain victory and obtain the declaration of being an athletic superior. The third important aspect requires gamesmanship, which is an aspect that affects professional fouls to emerge winners in any given competition. Another essential element of consideration entails bad luck, which defines athletic superiority is bad luck. The mentioned aspects hinder the effectiveness associated with determining winners and athletic superiors as they do not focus on the sole purpose of engaging in competitive sports activities. The moral considerations do not approve the mentioned factors in competitive sports as they hinder the determination of an appropriate and deserving winner in a sports contest.
