Luke chapter 22 outlines a focal point in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ with themes such as betrayal and denial by two of his disciples, the last supper as well as His arrest. The feast of unleavened bread referred to as the Passover was fast approaching.
Luke 22 is an incredibly interesting chapter, in my opinion. Reading through it, one can feel the desperation of the scribes and chief priests who wanted to kill Jesus but were afraid of the people. One wonders why they were more worried about people's opinions than about going against God. Jesus was aware that the time had come for Him to complete His mission on earth which was the redemption and establishment of a new covenant with man through the sacrifice of His own life. He also knew that Judas would be the one to betray Him, and Peter would deny Him three times after His arrest. The reason for them choosing to go against their master is also a point of interest.

Theophilus was a follower of Christ, one to whom the Gospel of Luke and the Apostles of Acts are addressed in the Bible. His name means loved by God or a friend of God.
Luke 22: 31-32 impacted me the most. Christ is well aware that Simon Peter will deny Him three times. However, instead of condemning Him, He reassures Peter that He has prayed for him to be sturdy and to have faith.
The surprise I encountered while reading this text is discovering that Judas was the one who approached the priests and scribes as opposed to my knowledge earlier that they are the ones who sought his help.
According to the first few verses of Luke, there may have been other versions of the account of the ministry and life of Christ. Luke seeks to give his account, which he assures Theophilus as a credible one having been a disciple of Jesus.
