Description and Analysis of a Workplace Scenario that Depicted Importance of Teamwork
Teambuilding is one of the most significant tenets upheld by almost every organization. Effective teamwork enhances greater work output and high-performance levels amongst the employees. From the personal perspective, I had never realized the practical significance of teamwork and the need for understanding its developmental stages until a point in time when my organization was accorded a software development contract. Being one of the Company's software developers, I was automatically incorporated into a technical team tasked with the mandate of delivering the project at hand. The task necessitated a dedicated team since it was hectic in nature. In the process of developing an operational team, I realized the importance of various stages of development ranging from forming, storming, norming, performance, and adjourning stage. The forming stage was characterized by anxiety and excitement, which was sequentially followed by ideological conflicts during the storming stage. This was followed by the establishment of significant rules and guidelines aimed at accomplishing the primary objectives of the team. After agreeing on the roles played by each of the team members and the appropriate protocols, the project was finally delivered during the performing stage. Working as a team enhanced delivery of an excellent project that raised the Company's reputation. The team was finally evaluated accordingly during the adjourning stage.
The Good, the Bad, and the Tolerable Aspects of Participating in Teamwork
Based on previous teamwork experiences, I fully agree on the importance of embracing organizational teambuilding process. Regardless of some challenges such as uncooperative team members, waste of time and resources during the decision-making process, and conflicting interests; teamwork stands out as the key element for enhancing organizational performance. Highly productive teams usually stick to the commonly established norms and guidelines. This enables them to share substantial ideologies and mechanisms that enhance efficient achievement of the intended goals and objectives. The concerted effort has often led to the attainment of quality work output.
