In my work setting the most beneficial technology is the email and chat setting. It is evident that the quality of service and communication offered by a hospital can either enhance or degrade customer loyalty. Messaging through live chats and emails have made it possible for the current organization I am working with to improve on the efficiency of message sending and receiving. Another amazing feature of live chats and emails is that regardless of the other staff members being connected, messages can be sent to them and they can read them at a later time. It is also worth noting that both email and live chats are secure between the sender and receiver hence the confidentiality of the client’s information.
The least beneficial technology at my place of work is the personal digital assistant. At its core, the personal digital assistant is a small hand-held mobile device that looks like a mobile. Usually, the personal digital assistant is used for the purposes of storage and retrieval such as the keeping of schedules, calendars, and address book information.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
In my opinion, it is least beneficial because of the high costs that come along with its use. Besides being pricey, to buy personal digital assistants, it is also worth noting that customers have to pay for a subscription or contract within a network to continue using the technology. Also, the personal digital assistant can be distractive at the workplace when not used for their intended purpose, Furthermore, they are connected to the internet and may serve as a distraction when one uses it for surfing unnecessary websites and playing games (Inada et al, 2016). The device is also not much interactive and also less advanced. Therefore it does not add much value to the organization.
In a hospital setting, the email and live chat tool have possibilities for future improvement and enhancement that would meet the needs of the organization. One of the key features I would like enhanced is the use of automated detailed responses based on the position of the organization. The advantages that would come with automated responses are numerous. First, it would be for the convenience of customers. Their inquiries and responses would be timely. Secondly, it would be cost-saving for the organization (Villar et al, 2017). The organization does not need to have in place a person that would have to reply to messages as it happens on social media platforms. Also, automated response features will offer a competitive advantage over other organizations that might have the same technology tools. An automated response will also streamline the workflow process of the organization. This is because an automated system will provide scripted responses to the most recurring scenario. Human agents do not have to waste time and resources.
With reference to patient care and safety, my dream technology is a robotic patient care nurse which senses the condition of the patient using various sensors. At the moment nurses are in high demand in the U.S. Also, there is a shortage of staff in most hospitals due to the high number of patients that need to be attended on a daily basis. Therefore, the use of aa robotic nurse will enable reduce the workloads. My dream technology robotic nurse should also be able to perform other tasks that do not involve patient interaction. These include running errands around the floor or ward and dropping specimens for a test in the lab. The robotic patient care nurse should be designed such that it gets commands for errands and patients' diagnoses when certain changes are made in the course of treatment.
