The likelihood of a WMD attack happening in the future is very high. According to the Maryland POICN Database. The total chances of different ages used in making WMD is 580, and that was between 1996 and 2016. The chances of these agents being used will continue to increase as different nations are investing in these agents in making weapons for future protection. In case two countries were to engage in war, they would use these weapons as a way of annihilating the enemy (Ackerman & Jacome, 2018). The number of religious extremists such as the Islamic jihadist who are feared to cause mass casualty can use these weapons in the future. Some other terrorists’ groups such as ISIL message the value of WMD an indication that they can use them.
The terrorist groups will perpetrate the attack. The Islamic groups have different terrorists’ groups which have shown their willingness to use force and violence. These jihadists groups have shown interest in using CBRN and WMD, which means they have been preparing these weapons in case they need to use them. Some groups such as ISIL, al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) and Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) have already started using some chemicals such as chlorine in making some of their explosives. It is an indication that these groups might be investing in other WMD weapons.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The global community is not prepared for a WMD attack. Some of the attacks such as biological, cannot be prevented and that makes it hard for the preparation. If these weapons were to be used, mass destruction would be done. The atomic bombs, for instance, burn people and surrounding property and though it may be slowed down, it cannot be stopped (Miklaucic, 2018). The resources required to prevent or reduce the effects of the attack are large, and the global community is yet to accumulate all the requirements.
