Texas Border Coalition (TBC) is an organization that advocates for issues that affect communities located along the Texas-Mexico border region so as to improve their quality of life. By the fact that it represents the border communities, it has more than 2.5 million people under its belt. Despite this, TBC faces several issues that are detrimental to their work in improving the education, the quality of workforce, transportation, healthcare, immigration, border security departments as well as the economic development programs for the communities they represent. In retrospect, TBC has three significant issues that it prioritizes that affect the people it represents both internally and externally. These issues are education, workforce renumeration and transportation industry.

Transportation is a critical industry and it affects almost every organization. Despite the efforts by the coalition to address the challenges affecting transportation industry, issues like poor infrastructure, rising population, the emergence of the maquiladora industry, and insufficient funds still remain relatively rampant. Most regions of Texas and Mexico border face increased traffic, especially in the road and freight sector and this is due to excessive use of inappropriate methods of transport. The traffic jams increase the time spent on moving goods and services from one region to another.

The other significant issues that TBC looks at are education and workforce quality. To paint a picture of this problem, in the border of Mexico and Texas, twenty percent of the population have gone through less than nine years of education. Furthermore, eleven percent have bachelor's degrees while six percent have a post-graduate degree. This phenomenon has resulted in high unskilled labor, unemployment, and lower wages due to limited jobs. For the border economy to develop there needs to be an increased investment in skilled education as this is paramount in equipping graduates with both specialized training and career Jobs. Moreover, with better knowledge, the communities become more productive due to high employment rates and better-paying workforce. Notably, a high population of educated graduates is an enabling factor that boosts individual critical thinking and encourages better ways to conduct business, develop infrastructure, improve health care, and manage security issues better especially at the border region.
