University SWOT Practice

SWOT analysis entails focusing on the institution’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, as well as threats. This implies that there is no particular published source of information being referred to in this SWOT analysis. The mission of Texas A&M University is to offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees important to the region and the state. The strength of Texas A&M University is that it is the only university that embraces all three descriptions which implies that it is a land, sea, and space endowed institute hence it replicates a variety of research with continuing developments subsidized by administrations such as NASA. Additionally, the institution is enjoying the strength that it has gained in its brand as one of the ten biggest universities in the nation, its location in the capital of Texas state capital and finally, faculty services to the institution and the entire community.

The institution of Texas A&M University has got different weaknesses which include underfunding in various sections and packages which also results in the deficit in financial sustenance for scholarship programs. There is also the weakness of understaffing at various levels of education, underdeveloped campus life and facilities. Finally, the shrill cultural diversity of the institution also serves as its weakness.

On the other hand, opportunities for the institution include global online opportunities for providing enduring education for intelligent enrichment and a variety of ages. There is also the opportunity to establish undergraduate experience by utilizing the best performances from throughout the nation. Additionally, there is the opportunity for intercontinental and off-campus education and exchange programs and finally, the chance to emerge as a forerunner in interdisciplinary and cohesive learning.

Threats to the institution include the diminishing public subsidy of tertiary education in Texas, the jeopardy of trailing conspicuous faculty and staff for honorably better prospects at other institutions of higher education or even locally. Finally, Texas A&M University is exposed to the threat of growing competition from other public universities and some other private institutions within Texas.

What’s the Reason for Business Success?

The success of a business is determined by various factors of which are the factors of strategic management of an institution. There are two types of strategic management vital for this discussion, the romantic and the external control view of leadership. The romantic view of leadership in an organization is a way of leadership in which the leader solely determines the success of an organization. The external view of leadership, on the other hand, is a form of strategic organizational management in which the external forces determine the success of an organization, and therefore the organizational leader has limited influence on the success of the organization.

I would not regard romantic leadership more dominant over the external control views of leadership because it involves the organization leader motivating his workforce in a manner that he would provide what he feels is necessary for the success of the organization. This kind of strategic management implies the leader would perform the leadership responsibility in a manner like he is courting the employees hence the name romantic leadership. However, external control views leadership strategy seems more effective because the leader is responsible for significant decision making such purchase of resources, recruiting and weeding out of employees as well as taking care of the organizational clientele. Additionally, external control views leadership strategy management offers the opportunity for the motivation of employees as well as management of organizational boundaries.

Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility strategy and other issues of competitive advantage, as well as shared value, are some significant concepts for corporations in the society taking into consideration the social and environmental impacts of organizations. The concept of shared value implies a management strategy in which companies find business opportunities in social problems. Unlike the concept of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility which focus on giving back or diminishing the effect an organization has on the society, shared value implies organization leadership is taking full advantage of the competitive cost of social problem solutions within a new clientele and marketplace, cost saving and talent retention. The concept of shared value has become a challenge for organizations that practice corporate social responsibility.

An example outside the text of an organization that is socially responsible is the Adidas Group. Adidas has formed a partnership with Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus’s micro-finance organization, Grameen Bank to facilitate the manufacture of shows of low cost for the poor people in Bangladesh. This program is a perfect example of shared value principle between the Adidas and the Grameen Bank because the goal is to produce cheap shoes that can be affordable and as well protect the poor people of Bangladesh from diseases. Initially, organizations used to focus on the concept that shared value is the only concern; however, corporate social responsibility (CSR) was established to address issues in the community following unwavering budgets, an emphasis on shareholder administration and operational on the sideline. The strategy of shared value emphasizes establishing determinate business value by ascertaining and addressing social complications that traverse with their business. Summarily, the shared value strategy generates innovative opportunities for organizations to influence the authority of market-based antagonism in taking care of social problems.
