Discussion of Findings
The findings of the study indicated that majority of the participants were confident of starting a business. A high percentage of the participants in the study demonstrated that they are interested in starting their own business. This shows that they have a feeling to become self-reliant and independent in their own businesses. There are many factors that are considered when starting a business. The study considered three main factors that can help inform the decision of the women to start their business. The three reasons for the business start-up that were assessed in this study included research, network with people and experts and the use of the available resources for the small business.
Research
One major reason that demonstrated the confidence of the participants towards starting their businesses was the ability to conduct an in-depth research on a given business. Many of the respondents in the study demonstrated adequate knowledge in market research that can help identify the best business to start. In essence, starting a business requires that an entrepreneur conducts a good market research to identify the needs of the consumers, the trend in the market, competition, prices and the appropriate design of the products and marketing strategies (Amin, 2017). Network with People and Expert
Another important factor that was considered as the major determinant factor when it comes to the decision of women to participate in the business is the network with people and expert. Evidently, the majority of the women were having networks with many people that can help support their business ideas. The network of the women includes those of the business professionals and experts. In addition, the participants were connected with other individuals through the social media avenue and this made them share useful ideas that can help support their businesses. In the current competitive business environment, the network plays a critical role towards gaining competitiveness of companies (Avolio, 2017). Nowadays, networking can be attained through various platforms such as social media platform where businesspeople normally interact with their customers to share ideas on various business issues. The social media network proves productive to many companies and is seen as a major factor that can help drive organizations to success. Since the participants were technically savvy and are able to use social media avenues and other online network platforms, it meant that they have the ability to expand the market reach of their companies through connecting with many customers and other relevant stakeholders through an online networking platform. Furthemor4e, the social networking platform can enable the respondents of the study to conduct sales and business deals online and thus reduce some of the cost associated with the physical transaction of goods.
Available resources to women business owners
Another important factor that supports the women ability to engage in the business practices is the availability of resources to women business owners. There are many organizations including the government that support women business owners. In many societies, the governments are working on an initiative which is commonly known as affirmative actions. In affirmative actions, women are usually supported in the society to help realise some of their desires such as employment and starting a business (Bielenia, 2018). In many cases, the government often sends some funds to support the programs aimed at improving the welfare of women. The women empowerment programs make them able to access some of the essential resources that they require to establish their projects and businesses.due to the accessibility and affordability of the resources required by women business owners, it proves easy for many of them to embark on their own businesses. This was evident in the findings where the majority of them indicated that they are willing to0 start their own business and become independent.
Drawn Conclusions
It was evident in the study that the majority of the participants were confident that they will start their businesses. The responses from the participants suggested that they had plans to start their own businesses in the near future. The strategies that were used by the participants in an attempt to start their businesses were helpful and can lead to success in the business environment. The result that indicated that effective research played an important role towards encouraging women to start their businesses was reliable and accurate. During the study, all the women demonstrated high skills and capability in the research work and this is the key to their future plans for the business. The women were able to effectively use computers to conducts market research such as data entry and analysis. The computers provided them with a critical tool to conduct research and interpret various market features and data. Using computers in business can help improve efficiency and reduce the number of errors associated with the manual filing process. Ideally, the computer helped the women to improve their business process and perform certain business processes faster and with ease (Maden, 2015). It also cost effective since it has few labour requirements and cost as compared to the manual filing.
Currently, there are many women who are now working outside their homes in various business ventures. Majority of these women are successful and continue to reap huge benefits and profits from their business initiatives. This shows that the other women can become successful when they decide to start their own businesses. In essence, the women who work outside their women have indicated their love for work and business ownership. They feel the urge to earn extra income and thus are highly motivated to start their own businesses.
The study also noted that women required some leadership training and coaching to help improve their leadership skills and ability. One of the women who participated in the study have taken a leadership course and developed the feeling that the training in management is important for all the women aspiring to start their companies and businesses. She emphasized by indicating that learning on how to network with other professionals in the fields can help improve the management of the enterprises started by women. The main issue was that training creates confidence in women and improves their managerial skills.
Importance of Study
The study was instrumental towards empowering women to become successful business people. It helps provide the women with the necessary skills and ability that can enable them to start their businesses and drive to the success (Yadav & Unni, 2016). In addition, the study was fundamental towards identifying some of the market opportunities for women in the global business environment. Empowering women is a priority to many nations and thus the study was in aligning to these objectives (Sudan & Singh, 2015). The study was also instrumental towards identifying some of the potential threats and opportunities for women entrepreneurs. Such findings can be used to put in place adequate measures to help improve the business management skills of women in the society. This can ensure that they achieve gender equality as well as contribute to the economic developmment5 of a country.
Another sign of the study is that it can be used to inform policymakers about the best strategies that they can use to empower women in the society. Currently, many people and governments rely on a affirmative action as the main strategy that can be used to empower women. However, the strategy has attracted much opposition from other people regarding its biased and ineffective towards coming with a lasting solution. As a result, this study can come up with some effective interventions measures that can be used by women to engage in their businesses and become self-reliant and independent just like their male counterparts.
Recommendations for Future Studies
Although the study was considered successful, there are various recommendations that can be used to improve the future studies to become more reliable and accurate. One of the major recommendations is to increase the sample size of the study. The researchers should engage many ensure to ensure that they reflect the true population. The other recommendation is to allocate adequate resources for the future studies. The resources that should be allocated for the study include the capital, learning materials, facilities, computers and personnel. Increasing the resources for the study can help ensure that its outcome is accurate. In addition, the participants should be trained in various issues pertaining to the management of businesses. This can include offering some tailored made leadership courses to cater to the diverse needs of the respondents. There is a need for further research studies to include various data collection methods that include interviews, observation and questionnaire. The future studies should investigate some of the established businesses managed by the women entrepreneurs to identify some of the challenges that they are facing and come up with lasting solutions that can be used to improve their business management skills. The result obtained from the experienced business women can be used by the researchers to design appropriate training programs for new women employees.
