People look for inspiration from spiritual leaders who represent God`s promises and desires to humankind. I concur that some rewards and challenges befall spiritual leaders. Greed, laziness, administrative and domestic negligence, and power control are some of the pitfalls that affect spiritual leaders. Avoiding such pitfalls mandates overpowering the temptation of a bad leadership approach, then adopting strategies that foster excellent leadership (GÜmÜsay, 2019). In essence, leaders must understand that productivity cannot be achieved without creating a conducive environment. Simultaneously, these leaders should be aware that they are dispensable and that staying close to God and the people is equally important. Ultimately, spiritual leaders must depend on one another for spiritual guidance and accountability.
Leaders who avoid pitfalls are rewarded handsomely. As discussed in the chapters, spiritual leaders are guaranteed a place in heaven and God`s divine fulfillment. Moreover, the leader will receive blessings for a productive relationship with God and other Christians. Lastly, an excellent spiritual leader will leave behind an inspiring and impactful legacy that others would widely admire. In my opinion, I see administrative neglect as one leadership pitfall that impacts leaders around me. Most of them fail to lead by example and influence their followers. Regardless, leaders must believe in the leadership style and align it to leadership ethics. The Bible is clear on leadership, urging people to select capable, God-fearing, and trustworthy men who have the interests of the people at heart (Exodus 18:21 ESV). However, if a leader`s values do not conform with those of the followers, conflicts are unavoidable. Pride is one leadership pitfall not addressed, but it can lead to significant consequences during disputes.
