Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine were the pioneers of getting back the independence from the Great Britain. In their documents: Declaration of Independent and pamphlet Common Sense they were dedicated to gaining the independent from Great Britain back. Although they had a common goal they differ in the manner they aired their grievances. In his books and documents Paine tries to sensitize his leaders about unknown facts in the country, but on the other hand, Jefferson was calling for a war to gain back their independence.
Both authors were dedicated to gaining independence from Great British through enlightenment. They condemned the new religion introduced to their region. In particular, they pronounce the freedom of worship in America. Besides, they never mentioned any denomination or religion but advocated for freedom in choosing a religion (Chinard, 2011). They advocated for a faith that will take care of the citizens but not humiliating them. Similarly, they advocated for democratic government, where citizens elect leaders of their choice but not hierarchal governance. Consequently, this will give people of America ability to demote a leader if he or she does not deliver services according to the will of the citizens.

In the both documents, they supported respect of fundament rights to all human beings. It is recorded that the colonies had made efforts to reconcile with the monarchy government of England, but they never received any response (Chinard, 2011). Additionally, they pointed out the offenses that the Great Britain had done against the people of America. Namely, they were: high taxation and denial to participate fully in the government politics and policies making. Besides, they both aired the negatives caused by the British in comparison if they had their government.
Both authors condemned slavery of their people in all levels. They wrote about it and demanded freedom for their population in the; working place, retirement funds, equality of salary between Britain people and American (Chinard, 2011). Although for a long time they received any positive response, they never stop fighting for the rights of the Americans. They used simple terms to make their people understand the pain that British were bringing in their country by paying less for great tasks.
In contrast, Paine was able to reach many individuals who include; leaders, citizens, and the government of British, while few in the society only accessed Jefferson document. In particular, this was because Paine used description essays, which were simple to understand; besides it contains short stories which created images of their leaders (Lewandowski, Anthony III (2013). In this case, Paine documents provided a lot of information more than Jefferson records. Notably, Paine material played a large part on American revolutionary than his counterpart Jefferson.
Common Sense by Paine provided a lot of materials which are evidenced by its substantial volume; on the other hand, The Declaration of Independent by Jefferson is a concise document. As a result, it's clear that Jefferson work contains only a brief message, in particular, the gain of the American and the break of the British. Whereas, Paine work was extensive and contain a variety of messages to all citizens. Its volume is large enough to provide this information.
While Paine peacefully advocated for independence; this is through the writing of essays, but Jefferson, on the other hand, supported for forcibly moving the British out of their country. Paine used a demanding tone to request British to leave their country . He explained that they would also do well economically, socially and politically without their presence while Jefferson wrote how annoyed he was by everything that British was doing in their country. Paine would use his essay to create an image to his fellow citizens on different issues. Moreover, he explains how the presence of Britain caused harm in their country whenever it conflicted with another country. Consequently, it was affected economically due to its connection with Britain.
The main aim of Paine was to convince the American people the importance of its own independent while Jefferson document did not offer any explanation of the need to independent (Chumbley, J., & Zonneveld, L. (2009). Paine's work was more popular than Jefferson records; as a result, it is argued that; Paine played a significant role in the independence of American than Jefferson.
Paine's document was an attempt to change people's mind and persuading them to advocate their independence while the Declaration of Independent only pointed out the reasons why the government of America has decided to have their independent (Lewandowski, Anthony III (2013) ). In particular, Paine document was able to advocate for independent to all people, but Jefferson was only addressing the need of American government to gain its independence.
According to the above evidence, Paine work had significant influence toward the revolution of American people. In particular; this was due to the use of literary style to explain deeper ideas that existed in the community. Additionally, his convincing tone made his work famous hence acted as a tool to gain independence. Consequently, his large volume of work is evidence that he wrote a lot toward independent of American.
The work of these two intellectual is still relevant today, mainly because it advocated democracy and rights of the people. In the recent records inequality still, exists in many countries in the world. Therefore there is need to promote equality among citizens. Besides, respect for human rights should play a primary role of the government worldwide. In conclusion, both Paine and Jefferson played a significant role in American independence though in a different tone.
