Comparison

When comparing the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution, there are similarities and differences. The first similarity is that both were the rules and regulations of the US government. The other similarity is that they were both formulated by the same individuals and referred to the country as the United States of America. Despite the similarities, there are some differences. The first difference is that in the Articles the Legislature was Unicameral meaning there was one House called the Congress whereas in the Constitution the Legislature was Bicameral meaning the Congress had two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The second difference is seen in the members of Congress; two to seven are required for every state according to the Articles whileeach state should have two senators as dictated by the Constitution. The other significant difference is in the voting in the Congress; each state has a single vote according to the Articles whereas each Senator/Representative has a vote in the Constitution. Civil liberties

When it comes to protecting civil liberties, my view is that the Constitution did a better job as compared to the Articles of Confederation. The explanation is that the Constitution established the Bill of Rights due to the first ten amendments.

Running the government

When it comes to running a government, the Constitution did a better job as compared to the Articles of Confederation since the Constitution created the Executive Branch of the government hence establishing an executive power. Additionally, the Constitution made it easier to run a government since it created a central authority that was not adequately provided in the Articles of Confederation.

Balancing of power

The Constitution was useful when it came to the balancing of power since it created a system of checks and balances by separating powers in the three branches of government. For instance, despite the Head of State being the commander in chief, the Congress has to vote to declare war or appropriate funds to the US military.
