The Policing role of America was as a result of the cold war but later on, it became a means for assisting as well as protecting its own economic interests and those of its allies. This is illustrated clearly by some earlier and recent events that have taken place in the world. The cold war was a state of geographical tension that took place after the Second World war and it affected mainly the western bloc which comprised of the U.S, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and others. The war also affected the Eastern bloc which consisted of the Soviet Union and its satellite states. The war was associated with some impacts such as America realizing that it was a superior economy and as a result, it began to take power over some nations which led to its policing role. The aim of this paper is to discuss how America as the policeman of the world has used that mean to assist and protects its economic interests of its own and its allies.

The nuclear treaty
One of the keen areas of the U.S on its policing work is ensuring that other countries observe the nuclear treaty. The nuclear treaty was to ensure that countries did not have weapons of mass destruction in place to avoid a catastrophic occurrence such as that of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Aim was to ensure all nations did not possess the nuclear weapon as a way of ensuring global peace and that countries did not threaten each other using weapons of mass destruction. As a result, the U.S has severally been engaged in ‘cold war’ with countries like Iran and North Korea trying to coerce them not to develop nuclear weapons ( Paul, 2008) .

The reason why watching over the nuclear weapon by the U.S was a weak point, is the fact that when the nuclear treaty was being negotiated the U.S was in a secret treaty to share its weapon with its Allies. Under NATO the U.S was secretly distributing its Nuclear weapons to be stored in those countries. It was seen as a move of protecting the U.S and its allies against other Nations ( Tarzi , 2014 ) . The U.S did not want other countries to acquire nuclear weapons in fear that it would be overthrown as a superpower.
Fighting Against Terrorism
The U.S is one country that has been known for its role in fighting terrorist activities. While in the beginning, it was all about keeping the world a better place, the war on terrorism has turned into a means of the U.S protecting its own interest and its allies. A good example is a war on Iraq and Afghanistan. Globally, it was well understood that the war in Afghanistan was about hunting Al Qaeda leaders like Osama Bin Laden who was said to be one of the most dangerous terrorists ( Paul, 2008) . Osama is thought to be the orchestrator of the 9/11 attack. The main aim of the attack of why America and Allie nations such as the U.K attacked Afghanistan was that Osama was hiding among the strongholds of the al Qaeda. After over 8 years of continued fighting, they had not found Osama yet Afghanistan was totally destroyed and terrorist activities increased ( Schultz, 2018) . Afghanistan was attacked because it was a strong supporter of Russia in the past. the American soldiers and those from allies Nations are said to have done worse in Afghanistan by stealing of intelligence, destruction of property, death by thousands of the Afghan people especially women and children.
Removing “Bad” Leaders From Power .
The U.S is known for its work of eliminating oppressive and unjust leaders from power. Oppressive leaders such as Saddam Hussein of Iraq and Muammar Gadaffi were removed from power in the name of fighting for the freedom. In Iraq, Saddam Hussein was removed from power and killed in the United States. Muammar Gadaffi of Libya who was said to be a dictator ways also removed from power by rebels of Libya and the NATO which was led by the U.S ( Schultz, 2018).
After eliminating all the all these leaders the U.S leave these countries in shambles and in worse conditions than it initially was. While peace and restoring order might be the excuse for the U.S to attack a country it does not achieve that goal. For example in Libya, after killing Muammar Gadaffi they left. The country was left in chaos and in a worse state that it was under Muammar Gadaffi.
Fighting Against Drugs
In Mexico and Colombia, the U.S invaded the two countries in the name that it was fighting against drugs and drug lords. The war on drugs in central and South America engaged agencies such as DEA and CIA. The war in Colombia was never won because the drug business thrived and grew during the war ( Schultz, 2018) .
The war on drugs in South America failed because the CIA was engaged in illegal selling of the drugs. The war failed and yet the government stood to gain through the illegal activities of selling drugs. It also armed the gorilla fighter who was fighting against the government and were engaged in the drug war ( Tarzi , 2014 ) .
Impact Of The Above History
The “policing” role has affected the way people interact in the workplace. One of the key things that are clear today is security. Security screening and clearance are common activities in the corporate place. Screening for security is done to everybody while entering and leaving the workplace.
