The Attrition Warfare Won by the Weaker Force

Introduction 

This essay is about the American Revolution against the British colonialist and how the Americans fought, retreated, resisted and defended their territories against the British forces and the treatment they received from the British troops. 

The British had three commanders. Clinton whose strategy was releasing prisoners of war from parole making them full citizens and making them take the allegiance oath and support efforts for peace restoration in South Carolina but these led to more rebels, and they would withdraw from the war and choose to pretend that they were loyal and others would return to rebellion1. Cornwallis's plan was pacification through Americanization where he believed that making America peaceful relied on driving the rebel forces far from the armed loyalists1. And then he would move into North Carolina providing protection to South Carolina and he argued that North Carolina did not need regular troops because regulars would protect the Americans who provided protection for South Carolina. Instead, the Loyalist moved to rebels and calls for support from them bore no fruits and rebel terrorists continued fighting with the Loyalist who retaliated. And German whose strategy was the compilation of the two 1 . In Conway, we see the addition of other commanders 2 . 

In the revolution of the America Shy argues that Americans won the war and they explain that they won because of the mistakes the British made, in that they never resorted to the marksmanship of the Americans, their Indian fighting skills, and their great resistance 1 . Conway states that the over-mountain men fired from a cover showing the war had marksmanship killing 

Ferguson who had inexperienced and Greene's forces would fire and move back to enable the second line to come in front and aimed to show their Indian fighting skills 2 . The Americans won the first victory by the help of the rebel leader Green, Nathanael who was the new Southern American commander; he had to wait at Charlotte so that for Cornwallis can start advancing. Once they started pushing, he divided his forces. Daniel Morgan went to the west for the collection of supplies and to test the British defenses in South Carolina, another force led by Henry Lee combined forces with Francis Marion to increase pressure on the British troops on Coast of South Carolina. They advanced, and he hoped Cornwallis responded by the division of his troops which Green had expected. Tarleton forces had high hopes they would win and with this Morgan had good judgment, and he gave the Americans morale prompting their victory. They counter-attacked Tarleton with their skills, Tarleton was off balance and defeated. Green's forces and Cornwallis forces again Guilford Court House where the Cornwallis forces emerged victors. After several more attempts Green's army failed in the war, but the war in South Carolina and Georgia had now ended 2 . 

In Shy, the historians have questioned themselves if America revolution changed the Americans and they claim it turned the Americans with a dislike with things related to the military 1 .The Americans were being treated harshly which led to the death of the locals and the fight led to destruction of propert 2 . In Conway we see the Americans using their Marksmanship skills to fight the Americans and their Indian fighting abilities. They would move forward in line firing and then go back making the next line to enter the front row and fire, weakening the British defense forces, and Conway states that the over-mountain men fired from a cover showing the war had marksmanship killing Ferguson who had inexperienced 2 . 

Shy says that the question of the war impact was neglected and the results included property and life disruption, death and destruction 1 . Conway says the Franco-American war against the British, 900 French and American troops were injured or died because the British were using the grape discharges shot and musketry fire and in the fight between Green and Tarleton forces the Americans had seventy-two rebel casualties. And there were also rape cases, assaults, and theft from the invaders brought in by the British 2 . They believed that the treatment of was too gently and that strict action was the only way to put them to allegiance and to expound on that a British officer who had proposed and given a suggestion on efficient ways to conduct the war had favored harshness as a means for making the Americans surrender 2 . The British army had also earned a reputation for brutally treating the Americans. They burned Tarleton's soldiers’ houses down causing the destruction of property. Also, the Loyalist had met mounting opposition provoked by the destruction of property and theft of the rebels' property by the British. Cornwallis also, during the pursuit of Green had to burn his wagons and excess baggage to enable him to move faster to catch the rebel and his soldiers. They also plundered Elizabeth Steele's house and took her animals, food for the animals, liquor and her family provisions and other families left with nothing 2 . Clinton sent an expedition to Virginia who destroyed the local American's stores and tied down their forces 2 . 

Another impact of the war by Shy was to widen the gap between the wealthy Americans and the have-nots american 1 . In Conway, the British troops invade the American's houses and steal food living them with nothing as seen in the Elizabeth Steele's case and his neighbors. They also destroy their properties living them with nothing1. These widened the gap between the wealthy and the have-nots because the people they were stealing from were defenseless American locals and with left with nothing 2 . 

In conclusion, the American Revolution their fighting skills enabled them to be victorious, and the war had many negative impacts including death, injury, and destruction of property. Shy and Conway both state the same on America revolution and there is no much contrast except the addition of more commander in Conway’s review and the help of the Americans by the France soldiers.
