Marijuana use has continued to be an intriguing topic in the field of nursing. Most scholars have written about the topic in diverse aspects including the negative and positive effects as well as the residual effects of the drug (Ryan & Sharts-Hopko, 2017). Considering the increasing consumption of marijuana, many people are increasingly determined to understand more about the effects of the drug and the ways to prevent the hazardous effects of the drug, if they exist. The prevalence of marijuana use is very high in the USA. For example, 22.2 million individuals used marijuana in March 2017 (Sims, 2017). However, the use is increasingly prevalent among men compared to women. What is more, its use is widespread among youth adults and adolescents. The perception of the teens concerning the various risks of marijuana use have constantly reduced over the last decade, which is attributed to the increasing public debate concerning the legalization besides the loosening restrictions on marijuana for recreational and medicinal use. 

Purpose 

Many factors fascinate me to the topic of medical benefits marijuana. To begin with, there is increasing stigmatization among the people using marijuana. The stigmatization has negatively affected the people using the drug. For this reason, there is a need for understanding the various benefits of using the drug for medicinal reasons. Broad understanding of the medicinal effects of marijuana will help me educate the society about the various ways people can benefit from using Marijuana for medicinal purposes.

The topic is significant in today’s society considering the increasing use of marijuana. The number of people using marijuana is high and these people would like to know whether their habit may have some medicinal benefits or it has negative effects. In addition, the society would like to understand the benefits of using medicinal marijuana compared to its alternatives. Exploring the issue on the benefits of medicinal marijuana will accomplish many things, which include neutralizing the many stereotypes on the use of marijuana. The main goal of the research is to understand the various benefits of using medicinal marijuana than its alternatives. 

Target Audience 

The target audience for the research includes male of all age groups. Many studies show that prevalent of marijuana use among men is very high. Understanding the benefits of medical use of Marijuana will help most men to break loose from the many stereotypes about the negative effects of marijuana. In addition, the results will help to determine the best quantities of consuming marijuana to have the best medicinal impacts. 

Research Questions 

What conditions can marijuana treat? 

What are the benefits of medicinal marijuana over the existing drugs? 

Isn't marijuana too dangerous to be used as a medicine? 

What are the precautions when using medicinal marijuana? 

Isn’t encouraging the use of marijuana likely to lead to its overall use? 

What therapeutic potential does marijuana have? Is medicinal marijuana bad for pregnant women? 

Doesn't marijuana lead to fertility issues? 

Hypothesis 

Compared to the alternative medicines, medicinal use of marijuana is much better. 

Explanation of the Hypothesis 

The hypothesis has two variables, medicinal marijuana, and the alternative drugs. The hypothesis compared the effectiveness of using marijuana for medicinal purposes and the alternative drugs. The hypothesis will be tested by doing research on the already published studies. The research will prove whether using marijuana for medicinal purposes is better than the conventional drugs.
