Question One
Strategies that Make Hot Topic Successful
Hot Topic is a successful retailer since the management has inculcated a culture of passion during the manufacture and design of its products. Hence, its products appeal to the standards and needs of the clients. Also, this company’s culture is authentic since it derives the inspiration in the production of goods and services, design of its stores, and hiring of employees from the environment (Hot Topic, n.d.). Mainly, its inspiration comes from music, which the majority of young people find to be appealing. Hence, the reason for Hot Topic’s success.
The Aspects that Make Hot Topic Popular with Employees
Besides, the company is popular with its employees since it has a positive working environment. For example, the organization offers unique compensation packages for its employees. At times, the employees are allowed to attend music concerts and record fashion trends. Later on, the company reimburses them for taking part in such an event. Other benefits that employees receive include cell phone discounts, on-site massages, performance appraisal, and scholarship reimbursement. Besides, Hot Topic encourages employee engagement in the decision-making process. Some of the values that Hot Topic prioritizes include open collaboration, communication, and empowerment; these strategies ensure that employees realize job security and satisfaction. Employees in such an environment have a high level of emotional intelligence (Human Resource Management, 2010). As a result, they are committed to the success of the organization. Perceived organizational support and culture are prerequisite factors for employee motivation.

Ways Hot Topic Can Maintain Its Success
Hot Topic can maintain its success through constant market research. The employees should be advised to use social media platforms to learn more about fashion and music (Free Management Library, n.d.). For example, they can follow the trending topics on music and style and the celebrities who have a large following and influence in these sectors. This strategy will enhance the production and customization of the marketing strategies for its products (American Psychological Association [APA], n.d.). Also, employees should learn how to interact with young people on social media. These exchanges should be authentic as opposed to a conversation that appears as a marketing scheme. As a result, the company will acquire in-depth insights into young people’s tastes and preferences.
Question Two
How the Concept of No Walls and Doors Perpetuate Hot Topic’s Culture
The idea of no walls and doors in the corporate headquarters fosters the culture of openness, communication, creativity, and empowerment. Notably, the open-plan office makes it possible for the employees to exchange ideas; it is easier to walk and talk to a colleague and receive an immediate response compared to sending emails. Besides, Hot Topic’s culture encourages open communication, making employees feel comfortable talking to one another. The open-plan office also fosters creativity since it promotes interaction between members from different departments. They can engage in counterproductive work behaviors such as initiating practical jokes to eliminate boredom ( Spector & Fox, 2010) . Employees can share insights about the latest trends in fashion and music within a short time and on an individual level. Besides, the open-plan office boosts the attitude of the employees by encouraging them to work in unison. The open office plan also promotes the openness mindset; it shows employees that creativity is realized when there are communication and collaboration strategies. Having no doors and walls enhances the development of a happy, healthy, and productive team at Hot Topic.
Personal Opinion Concerning Hot Topic’s Business Environment
I would work in such an atmosphere since I am a team player. The success of an organization depends on the mood and the motivation of the employees. An open-office plan shows the employees that they are part of the organization, and their insights and opinions matter. I would be comfortable in such a setting since I believe that interpersonal interactions ensure that there is proper communication. At times, I become anxious when communicating with my colleagues over the email since I am never sure about how they may perceive my messages or react. However, when I meet someone in person, we can brainstorm, exchange ideas, and build rapport, enhancing the working relationship. Although, at times, I need personal space to work on my projects, I still need a direct connection with my colleagues. The open-plan office encourages not only the exchange of ideas but also offers moral support.
