Reflection Assignment

Program Outcomes

This assignment with coded “NR511 week 8” was done and submitted on August 29, 2018. The assignment aimed at providing a reflection on clinical experience acquired from the previous studies in nurse practitioner program. This course offered various outcomes. For instance, I learned various nursing procedures, billing codes, and nursing regulations. These outcomes were met in a variety of nursing practices. First, I engaged clinical rotation programs where I handled patients across the gender and all ages. Besides, I was exposed to practice exercise in performing blood and urine tests. I was fully guided by specialists in health care and nursing practice and by the end of the rotation I had gained enough experience in nursing practice. I was guided on how to apply the knowledge I learn in class to the real life situations.

MSN Essentials

This reflection assignment also offered me with the opportunity to acquire a number of MSN essentials. I was introduced to identification and closing of gaps. Under this nursing practice, I was able to interact with the community and how to meet medical treatment for both the adults and children. I learnt how to interpret feelings of people across different cultural backgrounds and religious believes. Clinical progression was another MSN essential met. This was achieved through engagement with an experienced preceptor who answered as many questions as possible from the learners during the rotation program. In addition, my preceptor gave outstanding guidelines on how to approach a variety of patients and gathering and interpretation of data while performing historical and physical patient examinations.

NONPF Competencies

Two NONPF competencies were acquired, which included technology and information literacy competency (Anon, 2013). This was met through the use of E-prescribe electronic tool in the health care practices. According to Ahmed et al., the E-prescribing tool is useful in clinic setting for aiding in improvement of patient safety through accurate record and storage of patient information and makes it readily available and accessible all the time.

Concepts

Closing gaps- refers to the attempt by health care providers to meet the needs of all clients regardless of age, gender, and race. Closing of gaps is the tendency of a nurse to be able to provide health care for all patients within a given society.

E-prescribe- is an electronic tool utilized in the prescription of medicine for the patients by the doctors. E-prescribe tool is used to improve accuracy and effectiveness in the drug prescriptions (Ahmed et al., 2016).

Reflection

This exemplar changed my way of thinking. I learnt that a patient care practice is a challenging task to handle and it requires high levels of professionalism. A nurse meets with clients of varying age groups, different gender, and from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Each patient therefore required special care program. As a nurse, I learned that I should anticipate learning to be able to meet the needs of all clients irrespective of their gender, age bracket, and culture. To be able to accommodate all clients, I should work towards developing and maintaining mutual respect for all clients.

Besides, this submission changed by attitude towards academic prospective. I had initially thought that the knowledge acquired at the university degree program is enough to make me a competent nurse, but I realized I should be ready to further my education to master’s degree or even PhD. By the end of the rotation program, I had acquired enough knowledge in nursing practices, such as use of E-prescribe toll for effective prescription of drugs, which would help me pursue my master’s degree program without much struggle.

APN Professional Development Plan

Program Outcomes

Done and submitted on November 27, 2017, this course requirement aimed at introducing learners to personal development plan (PDP). The course was necessary because it assisted in the assessment of my position in the professional development. The main outcome here is that I acquired competency in the profession and achieving the required nursing standards by acquiring new skills and knowledge (Masters, 2014). This was achieved through rigorous personal assessment that involved identification of my areas of weaknesses and strengths. I developed skills on how to improve my personal weaknesses while banking on my areas of strengths.

MSN Essentials

One MSN essential developed in this submission was Master’s level practice. Under this practice, I assumed the role of medicine practice procedures without close supervision from a physician. The practice was interesting and helped me to build my competence in patient care. Another essential acquired under this submission was networking and marketing strategies. Under this program, I was equipped with knowledge on how to develop and strengthen my networks and various nursing marketing strategies (Masters, 2014). Besides, this course provided me with important knowledge on how to establish international patient care programs and inter-professional collaboration for improvement of patient population results. This is also necessary for international job connections and helps to keep me, as a nurse, updated to the current nursing affairs.

NONPF Competencies

This submission was also vital for impacting honest and accountability to me as I prepared entering the nursing profession. This was met through conducting personal assessment lessons during the novice stage, the advanced beginner, competent stage, proficient stage, and the expert stage (Masters, 2014). These personal assessment programs were crucial in building compassion, care, and competence to me as I prepare to graduate.

Concepts

Marketing strategies- are defined as the generalized procedures of the clinical organization aimed at putting all goals of the organization together to develop a comprehensive plan for effective marketing of the organization (Masters, 2014). An organization is said to have put good marketing strategies if it is able to attract and maintain its customers for a long time.

Inter-professional collaboration- refers to a state in which several health care practitioners from different professional backgrounds work together with patients, families, caregivers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care (Masters, 2014). Inter-professional collaboration is vital for enhancing patient population results within the clinic setting.

Reflection

The submission, “APN Professional Development Plan,” played an important role in developing my academic credentials. For instance, it helped to me dig deep into my inner self evaluation. I learnt that as a human being I have both areas of strengths and weaknesses. I learnt that I should appreciate my weaknesses first, and then work towards improving them, rather than wasting a lot of energy trying to hide my failures. I learnt that I should advocate for displaying my character rather than displaying my persona. This helped me greatly to acquire good leadership skills and prepared me for my future leadership in the nursing profession.

Through the nursing standards acquired during the course outcomes, such as Master’s level practice, I developed nursing skills that would enable me serve as a nurse without or with little supervision. This would further enable me to succeed well in future as I join my Master’s degree in nursing.

Week 7: Vaginitis

Program Outcomes

The main purpose for this submission was to use vaginitis as one of the common gynecological diseases that are causing great alarm in health issues. Under this submission, it emerges that a gynecologist deploys various activities in diagnosing and treating gynecological diseases. For instance, a gynecologist collects historical state of the patient illness, the patient’s historical background, review of systems, current medications and allergies, and finally lays down the important objectives of the data review. In order to gather sufficient and accurate information about the patient, the gynecologist has to maintain a good rapport with the patient; which is achievable through being polite and showing close concern to the patient.

This submission gave me an important lesson about the vaginitis, that is, its main cause is the alteration of vaginal microenvironment composition and it may affect all ladies during their reproductive age due to hormonal imbalances or deficiency (Han et al., 2015). I had initially thought that vaginitis is more of a sexually transmitted disease, but this came out to be false following this submission. I therefore learned that I should not assume this in the field of medical practice and that I should always seek knowledge from experts or certified articles in order to avoid risking the patients’ life in my health care practices.

MSN Essentials

One outstanding MSN essential brought forward in this submission is the concept of clinical prevention for improving patient population health outcomes (Nyirjesy, 2014). This concept was learnt through conducting a case study of a selected patient where students were needed to do post-diagnosis procedures.

NONPF Competencies

The students were able to acquire knowledge on the best nursing practices leading to diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In addition, the students were introduced on how to relate well with patients during the diagnosis process for optimum patient care practices and hence help to improve patient population health results.

Concepts

Diagnosing- refers to the process of identifying the kind of ailment a patient is suffering from through the observation of signs and symptoms. Health care practitioners must first diagnose a particular disease before they treat their patients (Han et al., 2015).

Gynecologist- refers to a health care practitioner who specializes in the treatment of women diseases and care for female genital parts. Genital diseases like vaginitis are easily diagnosed and treated by specialized gynecologists (Han et al., 2015).

Reflection

The submission, “Week 7: Vaginitis,” left me with important lessons. First, I learnt that research is an essential exercise for successful completion of the nursing degree. My engagement in the research concerning vaginitis enlightened me and made me realize that learning is not only about attending class lesson and taking lecture’s notes, rather includes reading various articles, analyzing them, and coming up with a conclusion on a particular subject. Research here made me discover that vaginitis is not a sexually transmitted disease, but a genital disease caused by hormonal imbalances (Han et al., 2015). Therefore, the submission challenged me to shift my academic reliance from class work to a combination of both class work and research.

In addition, this submission gave me the opportunity to practice post diagnosing procedures, hence preparing me for my future career in nursing. I learnt that diagnosing is a vital step in patient care programs that helps to improve patient care. Before any treatment, a health care practitioner should first do disease diagnosis in order to establish the kind of disease the patient is suffering from for effective and accurate treatment of the disease. Furthermore, the knowledge acquired under this work helped me to enhance my knowledge in my degree program, thus preparing me for a smooth transformation from underground degree to my future academics in master’s degree program.

Week 1- 603

Program Outcomes

This submission involved a description of one of the ear problem called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). The intended purpose for this article was enable students test their ability to describe the ear diseases and their causes. Thus, by the end of the assignment I was able to describe in details the main cause of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), its signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. To achieve this goal, I engaged in intensive research about the Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and therefore credible sources were needed.

Various essential lessons emerged out of this submission. First, it was established that Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) has no known cause (Parnes, 2014). Second, the disease does not only impair with the hearing ability, but also impairs with body balance, as the ear is also responsible for body balance. Lastly, the disease is best remedied through treatment by a qualified physician; where Epley maneuver treatment is done (Parnes, 2014).

MSN Essentials

One MSN essential acquired under this submission was patient care improvement and safety. This was met through intensive research on the topic, thus I had the opportunity to enhance my deeper understanding of the disease regarding its symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatment, and how best to remedy the Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo condition. In addition, the knowledge acquired under the Week 1-603 submission equipped me with the best nursing and health care descriptive skills that are applicable in nursing practices. For instance, students were able to describe in details, various signs and symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatment, and the best remedy practices to curb the Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.

Concepts

Prescription-is defined as the process of instructing a patient on how to take particular drugs for the purpose of curing a particular disease. Drug prescription is done by a qualified doctor and the prescription should be followed strictly for better results in the cure of the disease in question.

Remedy- to remedy a disease means to treat the disease or provide a preventive measure for the outbreak of the disease. Remedying a disease therefore involves both its cure and or prevention of the disease from further outbreak.

Reflection

This exercise too involved carrying out a concerted research about Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) disease. Therefore, I was able to enhance my search skills which will be useful for my career in three ways. First, it equipped me with knowledge essential to enable me complete my university degree program. Secondly, the search skills will be necessary for application in my nursing career to enable me enhance my patient care procedure. Lastly, the search skills acquired under this submission will be useful for my future master’s degree program. Master’s degree program requires a lot of research, and therefore this search prepared me for my numerous researches during my master’s degree program. Therefore, this exercise played an important role in enhancing my search skills which are not only useful for my first degree problem, but also for my future learning and career development.

Program Outcome # 5

Program Outcomes

This submission purposed at addressing the main outcomes learned in offering extra ordinary nursing care. The main outcome addressed here is the necessity for health care practitioners to advocate for positive health outcomes. In order for nurses to realize positive patient health care outcomes, they should offer compassionate, evidence-based, and collaborative nursing practice. Besides, positive patient health care was achievable through advancing nursing practice. Advanced nursing equips students with knowledge in patients’ rights, thus nurses realize that they have the obligation to protect the patients against all negative results that occasionally arise from avoidable errors during the nursing procedures (NONPF, 2017). Therefore, it is the work of the nurses to act responsibly towards ensuring that all patients receive their ultimate rights and protect the patients’ integrity.

MSN Essentials

One essential addressed in this article was clinical prevention and population health for improving health. To achieve better clinical prevention and population health for improving patient health essentials, nurses should deploy health population principles and professional learning activities as outlined in the Healthy People framework (Meyer et al., 2015). Therefore, students were able to learn the salient features concerning population health, as well as acquiring knowledge in effective nursing strategies.

NONPF Competencies

Ethics competencies were also developed under this submission. To achieve full development of the ethics competencies, students were introduced to the better ways of evaluating the reputations of the choices they make while delivering patient care practices (NONPF, 2017). Therefore, learners should apply solutions that are ethically acceptable in the society while at duty. Where necessary, students should take time to speak to the patients before taking any action that tends to violate the expected ethics within the society they are serving.

Concepts

Compassionate- is the state of displaying sympathy and or concern for others, especially when they are going through a state of suffering. A compassionate person is the one who shows concern for other people’s suffering to the extent of acting towards helping those suffering recover from their state of suffering.

Integrity- refers to the principle of adhering to the moral and ethical principles accepted within a particular organization or society. A person is said to poses high state of integrity if he or she displays high moral character and honesty in their areas of professionalism.

Reflection

By the time I completed this submission, I had learnt a variety of lessons. First, I learnt that I must be prepared to be more responsible as I join the nursing profession. I should be lead by my high levels of characters such compassionate and integrity in order to yield positive patient care outcomes. Secondly, I learnt that I should be prepared to meet clients from various backgrounds; and that sometimes I shall be confronted to nursing ethic issues that will require my creative and critical thinking in to come up with the right decision based on the nursing co-value and principles.

To be able to serve competently as a nurse, I learnt that I should equip myself with the knowledge about the cultural practices and the acceptable norms within the society I am serving. This will be useful as it will help me to avoid conflicting with my client as I serve them. Besides, understanding clients’ culture will help me to know areas of the clients’ cultural practices which may not be acceptable in the nursing practice and patient care and establish ways in which I can advise my clients to avoid conflicting with the clinical patient care practices for better outcomes.

Program Outcome #4: Nr603 reflection

Program Outcomes

Under this article, various outcomes were reflected. First, the learners had developed their nursing skills towards becoming better professionals. The students’ professionalism was enhanced by the exposure of the learners to interactions with patients at all levels. Secondly, students developed nursing values they should display while serving their patients while on duty. This was attained through attending various lessons on how to communicate opened with patients and one another, how to maintain mutual respect as well as total trust with both the patients and the other colleagues. Finally, learners acquired essential knowledge on how to accommodate patients from different cultural backgrounds. For instance, students were coached on how to maintain a good rapport with both patients and colleagues. Besides, the students were helped to acquire knowledge on how to understand and appreciate different cultures as well as developing patient care plan in order to meet the needs of all patients.

MSN Essentials

One MSN essential acquired at this level involved understanding the significance of developing sound policies and evidence-based health care procedures alongside plan for evidence care (Goldberg et al., 2016). Under this scope, learners understood the need to further their education to master’s degree where they would gain more and better knowledge on how to improve their evidence-based nursing practices. Team work was also branded as among the key factors that promote patient care system. Team work enhances the share of information among the nurses and other health care practitioners. This helps in the transfer of knowledge from one medical practitioner to another, hence fostering patient care unit.

NONPF Competencies

One core competence developed at this stage of learning was communication and the urge to understand the patient needs. This is achievable through understanding and appreciating the patients’ culture and beliefs, then treating all patients with dignity and developing mutual respect during the patient care programs. Besides, offering patient counseling programs promotes patient care competence among the nurses. this is because the patients are equipped with enough knowledge on how to take actions in time to prevent the outbreak and spread of a particular disease, or what actions should be taken in case of the outbreak of a particular contagious ailment.

Concepts

Professionalism- refers to the skill or behavioral acts that distinguish a formal person from an ordinary person. A person who acts with professionalism displays outstanding characters at work that implicates that he or she is not just an ordinary person and such people often are accorded high respect by their clients.

Competence- refers to the character traits displayed by a profession that shows that he or she performs their duty as expected of them. People who work with competence perform their duty to the ultimate customer satisfactory.

Reflection

Under this reflection, I realized I had gained important nursing skills such as displaying high levels of professionalism and being competent at work. I learnt that it is important to train myself to perform my duties competently without supervision in order to gain respect from my clients, my employer, and my colleagues.

I acquired the leadership skills necessary for my future nursing practices. For instance, I learn that I should always endeavor to develop nursing strategies, evidence-based nursing practices, and developing sound skills in line with the nursing practices. Besides, I developed effective communication skills, such as etiquette, which are necessary for maintaining rapport with my client. Effective communication skills not only help to produce excellent patient care outcome, but also fosters customer population outcomes for better organizational profits. In addition, the nursing skills acquired under this submission, such as professionalism, competence, and communication skills, would be essential to make my further education in master’s degree program a bit easier. Therefore, this assignment was particularly useful to me.

SNAPPS Written Assignment Template

Program Outcomes

This article was written to address self-directed learning issues that stood out during the previous oral presentation. The main outcome under submission requirements is that community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) has been and continues to be the leading killer of the human race in the world. This fact was drawn from a fact research by File (2018) who established that CAP is the leading cause of mortality rates in the world, and especially for adults aged 65 and above. Therefore as nursing practicing students, we learnt that there is much that we need to do in order to curb the tragedy caused by the community-acquired pneumonia. It also came out that community-acquired pneumonia is virulent among the small children; and therefore, calling for more attention to device measure to mitigate the spread of the community-acquired pneumonia among the children.

MSN Essentials

Since the community-acquired pneumonia is an international disaster, learners were made to appreciate the need for Inter-professional Collaboration for Improving Patient Population Health Outcomes in order to curb the monster effectively (File, 2018). This was made possible through sponsoring students to attend the international community developments programs where students would meet with nurses and other health care practitioners and discuss matters pertaining best methods to curb the worldly deadly diseases such as the community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).

NONPF Competencies

As a nursing student, I acquired good communication skills during this submission. This is because I presented my search results orally and firmly defended my arguments. Oral presentation also aided in building my nursing competence through improving my communication skills, thus enhancing my conversations with both patients and my fellow colleagues. I further learnt the application of technology to improve patient care programs. For instance, treatment of CAP involves the use of an X-ray machine to perform chest X-ray, CBC, BUN/Creatinine and the relation between elevated BUN values , along with increased respiratory rate and decreased diastolic blood pressure with increased levels of Red blood cells distribution (RDW) in patients older than 65y/o with associated co-morbidities (File, 2018). Therefore, this submission formed the basis towards propelling me to embrace the application of technology to enhance patient care unit.

Concepts

Co-morbidities- refers to the condition of contracting more than one ailment at the same time; also used to describe the state of co-occurrence of more than one disorder to a new-born or adolescents. A patient who is diagnosed with co-morbidity requires high levels of care, as he or she is at risk of losing life.

Mortality- refers to the rate at which deaths occur within a particular age group and with a given time duration. Some diseases, such as community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), increases the mortality rate among adults aged 65 and above and small children (File, 2018).

Reflection

The aim of this assignment was to test my ability to conduct a research on a particular disease and make oral presentation. Therefore, this particular exercise played a key role in shaping my future career in nursing. For instance, I learnt how to gather various sources from different authors, compare them, and come up with an excellent masterpiece in a particular topic. I conducted a credible research on community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and came up with its causes, signs and symptoms, treatment, and its preventive measures.

The knowledge I acquired under this research paper will be important to me for a number of reasons. It acted as a breakthrough for my future career in nursing, as nursing career requires continuous research in order to improve patient care program. Similarly, the research tactics I gained during this submission would make it easier for me to further my master’s degree without many struggles as I already know how to conduct research and come up with credible information to support my doctoral thesis.

Health Information Technology

Program Outcomes

This submission formed the basis for the application of technology in making nursing practices easier and more reliable; and brought out important outcomes. I was able to learn the various health information systems within the healthcare setting and the profession of nursing in all practice domains and settings. This was met through a concerted research on the previous findings of the health care information. For example, Masters (2015) asserts that information technology is applicable by nurses to spread health care education programs across the nation and beyond. Thus, the field of nursing is a diversity of several domains and depends on information technology to spread any vital and new nursing information across all nurses worldwide.

MSN Essentials

I learnt how to do exploration of the trends and issues in NI and their impact on nursing in all domains. My research findings established that nursing is a complex area of profession and the health care practitioners need to keep themselves updated on new inventions as well as keeps utilizing the available sources in their practice for better patient care programs (Cherry & Jacob, 2016). I was therefore introduced to the utilization of internet based programs to keep myself updated on the current national and international issues affecting the nursing fraternity.

NONPF Competencies

I acquired Technology and Information Literacy Competencies. In other words, I practiced various ways of application of technological based programs to enhance the flow of information across the various nursing departments within and without the nation. This therefore, turned out to be one of the most important submissions that fostered my way of thinking and aided me towards becoming a global nurse.

Concepts

Technology- refers to the practical application of scientific knowledge in an organization operation systems aimed at improving the efficiency in the organizational performance. An institution that embraces the use of technology in its daily operations provides better customer satisfaction and hence realizes substantial profits from its operations.

Domain- refers to the field of action, thought, and influence. An organization that operates under different domains operates under a diversity of fields and requires high levels of networking in order to link all domains together for a self-sustaining system for a smooth operation.

Reflection

The submission on Health Information Technology formed a focal point in my nursing study. It made me realize that nursing is one of the fields which largely rely on information technology in its operations. For instance, the health care system has become more globalized than a localized. Therefore, nurses need to establish a good network of inter-connectivity in communication in order to ensure that all nurses across the globe have a continuous access to emerging issues and ideas wherever they are. A good flow of health care information depends on technological advancement. Consequently, technological advancement has played a crucial role in advancing patient care programs.

Information technology helps nurses to have access to new inventions and share of ideas worldwide. I also learnt that I can apply the use of technology to further my master’s degree in nursing online in order to improve my nursing tactics and improve my nursing competence towards becoming a global health care practitioner.

Addressing Bias

Program Outcomes

This assignment was submitted on July 2017 to address the biasness that exists in the field of nursing and the possible solution to mitigate the nursing biases. Several outcomes were revealed under this submission. For instance, students learnt that fighting vices such discriminations and racism is a crucial way of curbing biasness in the clinic settings. It was established that some bias arise as a result of patients giving false information concerning their health status in order to avoid being discriminated or being looked down up. This leads to inefficiency in proper medical care among the patients and thus results in deterioration of the patients’ health. To avoid biasness within the clinic settings, students learnt ways of limiting discrimination, such as sealing patients’ information against public exposure, according all patients their due respect, and handling all patients with dignity.

NONPF Competencies

Ethic competencies were among the prime outcomes acquired by the students in this case study. Students learnt to bank on empathy rather than sympathizing with the patients in trying to partner with the clients ( Garber, Gross & Slonim, 2010 ). Sometimes patients’ culture fails to marry with the norms of the nursing practices, such as a case where a patient may demand to use home treatments alongside the clinic treatments. In such a case, it is the duty of the nurse to try to advise the patient the reputations of using home treatments and bring the patient to light. Therefore, nurses have the obligation to help the patients eliminate their biasness for better patient care results.

Concepts

Biasness- biasness is defined as the state of being inclined towards or against one side, person or group, especially I a way considered to be unfair. When a person acts with biasness, they hide the truth in an attempt to avoid revealing the truth about themselves or a particular idea.

Culture- is defined as the acceptable quality in a society or within an individual arising from the concern for what is considered to be right in the society and is widely practiced. A good culture within an organization promotes effective flow of information within the organization, thus fosters of the organizational prolificacy.

Reflection

Through this submission, I was able note that there exists plenty of biasness within the health care institutions. The main causes of biasness within the clinical setting are vices, such as corruption, discrimination, cultural differences, and racism. Thus, clients give bias information about the history of their illness in order to avoid being perceived from a negative point of view. This made me to learn that biasness within a health care center may hinder quality patient care outcomes. Therefore, as a nurse, I learnt that I should try as much as possible to eliminate all vices which contribute to biasness within my institution in order to allow mutual understand and mutual trust with my clients for the purpose of obtaining positive patient care results within my clinic.

Knowing Self

Program Outcomes

On July 2017, I was required to submit an assignment about self evaluation. The submission helped me to learn the four core values; humility, respect for diversity, autonomy, and integrity (Hamric, 2014). To develop these core values, I was prompted with challenging situations that involved dealing with people from different cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs. I was also exposed to dealing with people suffering from severe ailments who easily demanded for euthanasia as an alternative to alleviate their suffering. Under these situations, I was able to make the right decisions based on the four core values of humility, respect for diversity, autonomy, and integrity. My encounter with these real life situations in nursing helped to prepare me for my future career in nursing.

MSN Essentials

One MSN essential learnt in this submission was translation and integration of scholarship into practice. I learnt to apply the theory I had learnt in class in real life situation at the clinic setting in order to build up my skills in patient care system. This fostered my experience in nursing and prepared me to be competent while dealing with my clients now and in the future.

NONPF Competencies

The submission about knowing self helped me to discover my inner self. I discovered who I am and this aided in impacting leadership skills to me. Being confronted with hard tasks to handle helped me to develop outstanding leadership skills such creative and critical thinking aspects. This helped me to be able to discern what is right and what is wrong and be guided by my nursing core values in acting accordingly. The submission on knowing self therefore, formed the basis for building my clinical competencies. It helped me to discover my capabilities and the areas of improvement as I prepare to join the nursing fraternity. The submission too gave me insights on the areas I should major on as I prepare to further my academics in doctoral degree program.

Concepts

Inner-self- a person’s inner-self refers to the individual’s personal internal identity. A person’s inner-self is defined by the qualities that distinguish him or her from other people.

Self-evaluation- is defined as the process of examining oneself and weighing up both one’s achievements and failures. Self-evaluation enables one to identify their areas of weaknesses and strengths in order know determine the direction to incline one’s career to.

Reflection

Through self-evaluation, I discovered my personal character. I also realized that most my failures are aided by my attempt to display my persona rather than displaying my character. Therefore, displaying persona in nursing profession is one of the biggest mistakes that I can make. This is because health care practice is a delicate job that involves handling people’s lives and any mistake done may cost somebody’s life. For example, in a case where a patient demands for euthanasia to alleviate their suffering, it calls for the nurse’s ability to make the right decision guided by inner-self and critical thinking to get out of the dilemma.

Besides, the submission about knowing oneself helped me t know myself better than before. Having learnt my areas of weaknesses and strengths, I discovered the areas to major on during my future academic practices as I prepare to further my education in master’s degree program. This submission is therefore, one of the most important works I completed while pursuing my university degree program.

Conclusion

Chamberlin University is one of the credible universities in the world that offers quality degree programs in nursing profession. To ensure that students leaving Chamberlin University are of the expected standards, the university sets up standard requirements from the students, such as completing several assignments based on the students’ research efforts and findings. This Capstone Portfolio project has identified ten exemplars selected from all submissions completed at the Chamberlin University for the course leading to the award of degree in nursing. Besides, the article has highlighted the major Program Outcomes, MSN Essentials, and or NONPF Competencies for each exemplar that have been met by Chamberlin University leading to the award of degree in Health Care and Nursing. It is therefore recommendable that all the other universities offering degree in nursing program should adopt the criterion employed by Chamberlin university in order to ensure that all nurses in the world meet the required credentials for better patient care system.
