Putting the case of Kristy into consideration, it is true that the level of HIV patients is increasing due to advancement in drug treatment. The incidence is due to the illusion that the epidemic is far from the reality for many populations, especially communities of colors. HIV incidence has increased, especially among the African-American and Latino women infected through heterosexual sex and injection drug use (Arcangelo et al., 2017). Men of color are also at high risk due to gays, bisexual risk, and drug-related risk. Hence increase in HIV cases in America. Mostly they are seen to pose characteristics of not caring because they are sure of proper medication; hence, the number being high.

Health care providers can significantly help in the creation of awareness of the reality of the disease by having campaign programs in health centers, in villages and all public places. Through this, they will help in addressing the prevention of the disease, care, and community outreach. They should also be available to advocate services to infected and giving prevention counseling to uninfected patients (Krummenacher et al., 2011, p556). Health professions should also make sure that every day is HIV day to create more awareness about the disease and its dangers. Through health care providers, it will be easy to mobilize and educate on the risks of having multiple partners and the dangers of unprotected sex.

Some of the strategies to be taken on educating HIV positive patients about their current condition include advising them to perceive personal responsibility to prevent the spread of HIV by practicing safer sex. Giving them quality treatment and therapies to improve their health. Advising them on the importance of not missing their medication doses to avoid developing drug-resistant strains of HIV is another way of preventing the infection from spreading. Advocating on early treatment of the disease and taking of various medication solutions and prescriptions (Montaner et al., 2014). Stressing on the need to integrate behavioral strategies with biomedical solutions since medical solutions cannot work alone, the two approaches have to work together to reduce the risk.
