Introduction
Health care is one of the essential things in the present society. Proper health care means that people can adequately get and achieve a coherent health care system in the country. However, the present society is engulfed with various health issues that have proven to be problematic. One of the most challenging health issue that is on the rise in the present society is the massive spread of cancer. Cancer is becoming one of the deadliest diseases in the present society. Cancer has grown to be one of the worst diseases globally. Currently, many people are directly or indirectly affected by cancer. The purpose of this paper will discuss the causes of cancer, its types, control measures and its implication in the lives of people.
Types of Cancers
Cancer is a broad disease. The growth of cancerous cells in the body of a human being is attributed to various reasons. These reasons have also continued to be seen as causing cancer in many parts of the human body (Jones, 2008). Virtually, almost every part of the human body has a specific type of cancer that is associated with it. Some of the common types of cancers are discussed below.

Breast cancer is one of the typical forms of tumors in the present society. Jones (2008) claims that the disease affects women; specifically, the breasts. It is one of the killer diseases among many women in the present world. It can be quite difficult to detect breast cancer earlier in many women. Hence, it is discovered at later stages when it has grown chronic. The symptoms of the disease include the growth of lump or thickening of the breast, pain in the armpit and a discharge from the nipple
Prostate cancer is also another common type of disease in modern society. It affects the prostate region of men specifically the gland that produces the semen fluid and also controlling urine. The early symptoms of the diseases include frequent urges to urinate, difficulty in starting and later controlling urine, pain during urinating and it can also be associated with less ejaculation. Blood stains in urine, difficulty in maintaining an erection can also be the symptoms of the disease. Prostate cancer just like any other cancers can be treated if detected at an early stage.
Lung cancer is another common type that affects people of both genders. It can affect both male and female in the society as explained by Almeida, & Barry (2009). It is one of the worst types of cancers that have caused millions of deaths across the world. Lung cancer has proven to be one of the worst diseases given that it is not easily detected, and it can only be noticed during the later stages when it has eaten the lungs beyond redemption. The growth of the tumors in the lungs can result in breathing problems thus blocking the functionality of the lungs creating the disturbances in the normal operations
Basal cell cancer is a type of skin cancer that first develops in the basal cells. Basal cell cancer has affected many people in modern society, and it has caused a lot of disfiguring in the skins of the victims (Almeida, & Barry, 2009). It mostly affects the parts of the skin that get a lot of suns, tampering with melanin producing cells. Basal cell cancer is not life threatening but can cause adverse effects on the victim, and the rashes as well as lumps that develop in the skin of the victim are usually very painful.
Colon cancer is a colon of the rectum or the colon. It affects the digestive tract of the human body. The large intestines of the body are chiefly affected by this syndrome. It starts with small lumps which can grow and later develop into cancerous cells. It worsens and can even perforate the lining of the colon, causing severe pain.
Causes of Cancers
Various things cause cancers both in society and inside the human body. Each type of cancer has specific causal agents. Some of the common causes of cancer include smoking. Jones (2008) cites that cigarette smoking is the chief reason that causes cancer. The smokers of cigarettes have a significant probability of developing the disease. Passive smokers can also develop the cancerous cells in their lungs. In the case of colon cancers, it is not precisely determined what might be the cause of the disease. However, doctors hold to the opinion that colon cancers might be caused by when healthy cells in the colon develop errors in their genetic blueprints. Improper dieting can also cause colon cancer. Basal cell cancer is caused by long time exposures of the lousy ultraviolet rays of sunlight.
Medical practitioners have not fully agreed on what might be the real cause of prostate cancer. However, issues related to age has been attributed to increased prostate cancer. As the person grows older, that is more than 50 years of age; one is likely to develop this disease (Jones, 2008). Family history is also attributed to prostate cancer. Obesity and dieting are also factors known to be contributing to the growth of prostate cancer. Breast cancer is caused by increasing age, family history, obesity and inherited genes that are cancerous.
Control Measures
Cancer is a deadly scourge that needs very efficient methods of controlling its spread and effective in the present society. One of the common prevention methods of controlling this disease is avoiding tobacco at all costs. DeVita, Lawrence, & Rosenberg (2011) claim that tobacco is a prime cause of various types of cancers such as lung cancer, throat, mouth, pancreas, bladder, cervix and kidney cancer. Any exposure to tobaccos is, therefore, a risk factor that needs to be eliminated and dealt with ease.
Another conventional method that can be used in controlling the spread of cancerous scourge is eating healthy food. People should consider eating the right diet to avoid any type of obesity, avoiding alcohol and also limiting the eating of red meat which has been known to be a significant cause of cancer (DeVita, Lawrence, & Rosenberg, 2011). Maintaining a healthy weight is critical in preventing cancer such as prostate cancer and breast cancer. Wearing protective clothing to prevent oneself from dangerous rays of the sun is also advisable. Immunization is also another common method that can help control the disease. Regular medical care is also advisable in controlling the disease.
One of the responses towards controlling cancer is seeking regular medical care. As stated by Almeida, & Barry (2009), regular medical care is an efficient method in that one is regularly tested and screened for any growth of cancerous cells in the body. If there are some traces of cancerous cells growth, one receives efficient medical care, and the disease can be controlled with ease. Regular medical care also means that in the event of any disease in the body, treatment is on time and hence controlling any type of cancer in the body.
The people in the society should, therefore, be educated on the importance of regularly consulting their doctors. Many people only go to hospitals when they are sick (Almeida, & Barry, 2009). This tradition should be eradicated. The society needs to maintain a close relationship with their doctors, and this is an efficient methodology that needs to be encouraged in any society.
Conclusion
Cancer is a global issue. It is one of the most dangerous diseases in contemporary society. Many countries all over the world are channeling a considerable amount of resources towards the control of the disease. Everybody must, therefore, work towards continually checking their bodies for a smooth and efficient way of tackling the diseases in the early stages. In this way, the adverse effects of the disease can be drastically reduced.
